The host cities of India for the upcoming 13th Commonwealth Games are all set to hold mega prostitution extravaganza during the games, scheduled to be starting from October 3rd, 2010 and the escort companies and pimps have got an unofficial nod of the Indian government in this regard, reveal the findings of The Daily Mails investigations.

The Daily Mails findings indicate that the organized escort agencies, both big and small scale, from Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Bangalore, hotbeds for A-list prostitutes, are already at the drawing board, listing out the probables that will be sent to service the over one hundred thousand visitors to the 2010 Commonwealth games.


These investigations further reveal that While precise numbers cannot be ascertained, the shortfall in the number of women available in New Delhi is approximately 50 per cent, of which 25 per cent will be met by the cities named above. The other 25 per cent will be sourced from Punjab and Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the North East. The 10, 00,000, figure includes sportspersons, officials and visitors to the games.
The Daily Mails investigations into the matter further disclose that the Indian organizers of the Games and the trainers of the participating Indian athletes, both are falling much short of what is required from them.
The Daily Mails findings reveal that there had been a great controversy between the Indian organizers of the even and the officials of the Commonwealth Games Federation coordination committee regarding the preparations of the venues to hold the mega sports event in the befitting manners. According to these investigation the opposition party in the Indian parliament is also not satisfied with the state of the affairs with regards to the preparations of the event by the Indian organizers. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday charged the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the Delhi government with misleading the people of the country about the preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the national capital.
Addressing a press conference, here the other day, BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said: It is sad that over the past few days, the Indian Olympic Association has been trying to create a false impression that visiting Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell was satisfied with the preparations for the games. He also claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshits statements that Fennell was satisfied with the preparations are false. Goel said Fennell later said that more than the construction of the stadiums, he was upset with the lack of coordination and work on operational issues as well as security during the games.
Goel, during whose term as sports minister in the then National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, the Commonwealth Games were allotted to Delhi, said: Now it is high time we stop covering up and work out the logistics to ensure the success of the games in a transparent manner. On the other side, taking the first step towards brokering peace between the 2010 Organising Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation, Sports
Minister MS Gill on Tuesday met OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi to discuss the vexed issues that have hit the capitals preparation for the event.
Kalmadi came to Gills residence yesterday morning where the Sports Minister took stock of the progress of preparations and discussed the contentious issues that have the OC and the CGF at loggerheads.
I met Mr Kalmadi today and had a long discussion on all the matters. I will be talking to (CGF Chief) Mr Mike Fennell on telephone and will have a meeting with him, (CGF CEO Mike) Hooper and Mr Kalmadi in London on October 28, Gill said after the meeting.
I am confident that all issues will be resolved and everyone will work in unison to ensure a very good Commonwealth Games in Delhi next year, the minister added. The OC and the CGF seemed to have reached a deadlock over mainly two issues the necessity of a Technical Review Panel and Hoopers stay in Delhi.
Fennell, soon after the CGF general assembly earlier this month, made it clear that the organisers needed to pull up their socks and fast-track their preparations if the capital is to deliver on its commitment of putting on the best Commonwealth Games ever.
Fennell said the CGF had decided to set up a Technical Review Panel to monitor the progress, a suggestion that did not go down well with the OC with Kalmadi outrightly rejecting the idea. Hoopers presence remains another bone of contention with Kalmadi describing the CGF top official as an impediment to the capitals preparation and seeking his removal.
The Daily Mails Investigations further reveal that apart from not being convincingly able to prepare the venues for the event within the given timeframe on part of the organizers, the coaches and trainers of the Indian contingent for the 13th edition of the Games are also not much satisfied with the preparation of the athletes to achieve some remarkable success during the event. This is what has forced the Indian officials to divert the attention of the visiting athletes, officials and spectators from the main event to the world of glamour and sex with lot of seductive tactics by escort agencies and their professional babes.
Raj, an escort agent who works with Indian Escort Girls from Mumbai, when contacted by The Daily Mails investigation team, said foreigners were their target audience and not Indian athletes. We can actuate 2000 to 5000 escorts for the event in a week, but there will be a shortfall, which will have to be met by other cities. Americans and Europeans pay well and we expect a lot of business from them.
Ellen (name changed due to security and commercial reasons), an escort from Goa, while talking to The Daily Mail said, Yes, its a big event and makes great business sense for us. Our agents will make sure there will be enough of us to meet the demand.
Neha Arora, who runs Escort International in New Delhi, upon contacting, said, Our agency will concentrate on three things.
First, increasing the number of national and international call girls in our agency to meet the customers
requirements. Second, making the girls look fit and hot so that they can work for extra hours and finally, increase our reach across the country. Our main focus during the games will be reaching out to foreigners as they pay well.
She said there were thousands of agencies operating throughout India and the only way to stand out is to keep up with requirements. We are planning to launch a new website next year with pictures of hot and sexy models, airhostess and actresses, explained Ms. Arora
Tina Jaiswal who owns the No 1 Delhi Escort agency, when contacted by The Daily Mails team, said, We hope to make good money during the games. We will simply follow the demand and supply principle of economics. We will double our rates a month before the games begin and increase our workforce. We have around 50 to 60 girls across India.
Khairati Lal from Bhartiya Patita Uddhar Sabha, an NGO that works for the GB Road red light area in Delhi, giving her comments to The Daily Mail said, We will not remain silent if any such developments occur in the city. We will protest via different mediums and
programmes. Uday Sahay, Additional Director General (communications) Commonwealth Games, upon contacting, said, There are so many things which need to be discussed and this [prostitution] is one of them. We are in the process of discussing these things and hopefully a committee will be formed to tackle this soon.
The Daily Mails investigations indicate that the flow of money through the sex extravaganza is likely to be much higher than what the government of India would be spending on overall expenditures to hold the event. It is learnt that while the Central or Union Government of India has allocated Indian Rupee 3,472 mn for the games, the escort agencies have fixed the rates as Rs 23,000 Per hour to charge the foreign Clients, which ultimately concludes to the tunes of millions of rupees more than what the government of India would be spending on the holding of the event as according to statistics around 10,000 athletes and officials from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) will participate in the 12-days of sporting competition. Overall 17 sports will be featured in CWG 2010, which will be held at six venue clusters, and five stand alone venues. Queen Elizabeth II will launch the baton relay for CWG 2010 on Oct 29, 2009 in the presence of President Pratibha Patil from Buckingham Palace, London.

After touring the 71 other CWG nations the baton will enter India from the Attari-Wagah border near Amritsar on June 25, 2010. The baton will travel around 1,70,000 km in all the Commonwealth Games nations. The baton will travel in the country for 100 days covering a distance of 20,000 km. It will enter Delhi on 1 October, 2010. Last month, Shiela Dikshit accepted that her governments Yamuna Action Plan has failed and it will not be able to clean the river before the Commonwealth Games.

Common Games federation chief Michael Fenell had pulled up the Organising Committee for the slow-paced work and even fixed an appointment with PM to apprise him of the delay in the preparation of CWG. This month, however, he said the overall the preparations are under control.
The Daily Mails Investigations also indicate that there is also a very big threat of millions of stray dogs, biting the participating athletes or the foreign visitors during the event at New Delhi. According to these investigations, Thirty people, eight months, the latest equipment and a lot of patience. That was what an international NGO took to count the number of stray dogs on Delhis streets ahead of upcoming Commonwealth Games. The figure is astounding: more than 2.6 lakh dogs.
But the counting process is equally fascinating. It was a daunting task that took us almost eight months. We cannot exactly count each dog but as they are territorial animals it became easy. We just had to identify the zones, said Karthik Satyanarayan, co-founder of Wildlife SOS, the NGO that undertook the first survey of stray dogs in the city. The survey, which started in January, divided the city into 14 zones according to municipal jurisdictions. A team of 30 people were selected and trained to count dogs. They were also given six vehicles with latest equipment, said Satyanarayan. The NGO used Global Positing System to identify low and high population density areas. The people involved in the survey said technology played an important role to identify roads and then to track the dogs. Generally, dogs dont move out of their territory. If a dog is spotted at one locality at Mayur Vihar, it wont walk over to the next road. So we were sure the same animal was not being counted twice. It is also easy to identify the sterilized dogs from the non-sterilized ones. Sterilized animals have slight cuts in their ears, said Satyanarayan.
After counting, the data was tallied with peoples reaction. The resident survey threw up some interesting facts. Like about 66 per cent people feed stray dogs; only 50 per cent respondents were aware of the problem and only 20 per cent feared the animals, he said.

Female prostitution

The women involved in the practice of prostitution in Pakistan can be divided into three broad categories: women who have been trafficked or lured into the profession and women who have been born into the profession and women who willingly seek out a pimp to make extra money.[10] Trafficked women are mainly found in the brothels, while those who willingly join this profession work as call girls, usually accompanied by a dalal or pimp. Those born into the profession are 'schooled' at home and operate under the management of their mother or another older female relative.[11]
Prostitution, especially in brothels, often remains associated with human trafficking as trafficked women are sold into brothels. In 2003, approximately 20,000 minors were engaged in prostitution in Pakistan.[12]
A recent study indicated that major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan have large population of sex workers. Many sex workers in these cities operate from hotels or homes. Some cities have red-light districts, but due to illegal status of prostitution, many sex workers work in homes and other private facilities.[13] There are very few identifiable traditional red-light districts in the cities in Pakistan. Prostitution in Pakistan is dispersed throughout urban areas in residential suburbs.[4]
Cities like Karachi and Lahore are major base of operation for call-girls. In Karachi, many girls take on the occupation of call-girls independently; however most girls enter into prostitution after coming into contact with a pimp. The girls share 40%50% of their income with the pimps. Some call girls work with the pimps under a fixed monthly amount, and the pimps provide police protection, shelter and bear daily expenses. Many call girls learn dance-forms like mujra to earn more money.[5] Most of the prostitutes operating in affluent urban areas are educated and belong to the middle-class.[4]
Affluent men in the nation may have a second or even a third wife who may be a prostitute with whom they have had a semi-permanent sexual relationship in return for financial support. These men and women do not view their relationship in terms that of a client and a sex worker.[4]
Afghani women, some abducted by Taliban, are sold into prostitution in Pakistan for around 600 rupees - less than $4 a pound, depending on their weight.[14][15]

Male and gay prostitution is increasing in Pakistan, though gay prostitution is not a recent phenomenon in the country. British explorer Richard Francis Burton, who visited the Sindh region long before the British conquest, documented a brothel of boy prostitutes in Karachi. Today many areas of large cities in the country have become virtual red-light districts for gay sex.[16] Male prostitutes operate their business in every city and major town in Pakistan.[17] Clients of male prostitutes come from every class, age group and profession.[16] Homosexual men belonging to the upper and middle classes frequently pick up male prostitutes from video game shops, restaurants and cold-drinks spots. Young male prostitutes generally find customers in places like dark alleys, crowded bus stops, shopping centres, cinemas, hotel lobbies, parks, railway stations, hospitals, school compounds, elevators of public buildings etc. Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sabzi Mandi, Kharadar, Lea Market, Landhi, Malir, and Lyari in Karachi are places visited by homosexuals from lower income groups. Clients in these areas primarily consist of bus drivers and conductors, night watchmen, labourers from upcountry, policemen, low-income government officials, small-time businesspersons etc.[17]
Many male prostitutes offer services at hotel rooms booked for the purpose instead of the client's residence. This is because while accompanying a client to his residence prostitutes become vulnerable to assault or robbery. Some prostitutes have sex with clients in the back seat of the client's car.[17] There are many part-time prostitutes who are students, salespersons, workers in hotels and garages. They become involved in the profession to earn extra money, and often to get a job in the film industry.[18] Some involved in prostitution often manage to save enough money to go abroad in search of a job.[19] Many boys are frequently used by the police without getting paid. Plainclothes police officers are often involved in the extortion and blackmail of male prostitutes.[19][20]
Male prostitutes in the country generally range from fifteen to twenty-five years of age. However, a few prostitutes are in their early thirties and some are as young as thirteen. Like their clients, male prostitutes have varying ethnic backgrounds. They come from all areas of Pakistan, but mostly from Punjab and Sindh. The majority of male prostitutes have little or no education, however some are graduates.[18] An average male prostitute in Pakistan earns approximately 5,000 to 7,000 rupees per month.[21] However those who have clients among foreign tourists earn much more.[19]

Teenage prostitution is a huge problem in India, with some reports estimating that nearly 20% of under-aged children in the country are part of the commercial sexual exploitation network. There are certain Indian communities in which prostitution is their main industry and young girls enter into it by following in the footsteps of their older sisters, mothers and grandmothers. This notion of caste-based prostitution is very old in these groups and it creates what seems to be an inescapable reality for the female children born into it. The most famous of these clans – which also include Nat, Sansi, Kanjar, and Bachada – is the nomadic Bedia.
Here is a description of the Bendia gender roles from a very informative article written by Anuja Agrawal at indiatogether.org:
Women born into a Bedia family remain unmarried. They engage in prostitution in order to provide for the economic needs of their natal family. Bedia brothers, that is, the men, although not economically productive, do marry. The wives of the Bedia men do not engage in prostitution. But they are largely responsible for all the domestic work including cooking, washing, cleaning, and childcare…In sharp contrast, Bedia men do not engage in any kind of wage or even non-wage work for the major part of their lives…Bedia men sometimes participate in domestic chores. Under some conditions, the men may engage in some gainful activities such as agriculture, rickshaw pulling, or some other work involving manual labour. But they barely ever do so consistently and in no case are they primarily responsible for the sustenance of their family.

Girls lured to Games for work sold to brothels

CHILD sex-trafficking has become the latest scourge of the Commonwealth Games.

There are reports of an alarming rise in the number of under-aged girls being lured to Delhi for work, only to be sold into prostitution.

The Indian Home Ministry issued an alert this month expressing "deep concern" at increasing reports that girls from some of India's poorest tribal states, such as West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand, were being lured to Delhi with false promises of work at the Commonwealth Games.

The departmental advisory, issued to seven state governments and obtained by The Australian, says: "The victims are mostly those who are promised work in Delhi ahead of the Commonwealth Games by fraudulent placement agencies but instead are likely to be trafficked. Minor girls are the main target. Strict action is urgently required against those involved in such trafficking, both in the source, transit and destination areas."


Serious: Games colourful, but shameful




Hundreds of young girls from poverty-stricken rural states are believed to have been successfully trafficked into the city's burgeoning number of brothels, massage parlours and escort agencies.

Kailash Pathak fears his daughter is among them.

The Australian accompanied the frantic father from rural West Bengal this week as he searched seedy GB Road red-light-district brothels for any sign of 13-year-old Khushbu, while the trafficker who confessed to taking his daughter but denied she left against her will, languished in a police cell 200m away.

Known as Pappu Bagel, he confessed to The Australian that he had accompanied Khushbu out of the state, but said she had gone willingly. He no longer knew where she was.

Mr Pathak said he had tracked down and reported to police Pappu Bagel, who had been visiting a neighbour in his West Bengal village and had left at the time his daughter disappeared. "I rang him and said, 'Have you taken my girl?' And he said, 'What if I have? What can you do about it?'

"I am absolutely helpless. I have no clue about how she's being kept, what has been done to her. I have been on the (police) search team from one corner to the other and she's not here."

Delhi's illegal but thriving prostitution racket has been gearing up for several months for the Commonwealth Games. Several establishments have reportedly been running basic English classes for their workers and renovating premises for foreign visitors.

Inside one GB Road brothel, The Australian saw a large flat-screen television fitted to the wall. "It's so we can watch the Commonwealth Games,"a middle-aged female worker explained as two men worked on renovations in one of the adjacent tiled and toilet-sized rooms in which women ply their trade.

The woman said she had no under-aged workers in the brothel and did not tolerate traffickers peddling young girls.

Outside another nearby brothel, where a 16-year-old girl trafficked from Nepal was rescued by police just two days earlier, The Australian counted more than 100 men in the space of just 10 minutes descending the dingy, narrow stairs in packs of 20 or more.

One exiting client said the brothel had been renovated and was "first-class".

Delhi police have raided a number of the city's notorious GB Road red-light district in recent weeks. Under-aged girls from poor Indian states and as far away as Nepal - a notorious trafficking source country - have been placed under government care until they can be repatriated.

A police superintendent from one inner-city district said about 80 young girls had been seized from brothels and traffickers in the past six months.

Last month, Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram called a meeting of police and officials from the tourism, labour and women's ministries on the rise in trafficking - for prostitution and forced labour - before India's largest sporting event.

Nishi Kant, from Delhi-based anti-trafficking network Shakhti Vahini, said his organisation had rescued 54 under-aged girls from the red-light district and the nearby New Delhi railway station in the past six weeks.

"The traffickers tell the girls and their families that they can get them good jobs in Delhi for the Commonwealth Games, but once they land here they're trafficked to various suburbs of Delhi and forced into prostitution," he said.

"The Commonwealth Games has become a disaster in the context of child-trafficking because we're seeing a clear rise in the number of cases.

"The poverty in these rural states makes them so vulnerable to trafficking of children. Everybody thinks that if you come to Delhi you will get a job, and these Games are rubbing salt in the wound."

A s***eswoman for anti-trafficking organisation Apne Aap said there had been a huge rise in the number of classified ads in the weekend papers for brothels, escorts and massage parlours, compared with last year.
