The only thing that has saved Pakistan from Indian occupation is the possession of our nuclear weapons & our ability & capability to hit India with our long-range ballistic missiles carrying nuclear warheads in the farthest reaches of her territory with dreadful & horrendous consequences. The only time I can think of, when Pakistan came on top in terms of military supremacy, is when the civilian government called the shots, led from the front, and provided the military the support and backing it needs......"Operation Swift Retort".

Other than that, all military adventures have either been a draw, or a loss. We lost kashmir...we lost siachen...we gained and then lost kargil (classic example of civilian govt abandoning the military. I dont see any treason charge against those folks).
Military adventurism works only with public support, regardless of how mcuh firepower you have.

Nukes are a non-topic. Noone is ever going to use them, no matter how severe a war is. They are for display cases only.

Most people in Pakistan believe that Dr. Qadir saved the country from an attack by India. I used to be one of them, but this is absolutely wrong. When I heard an Australian scientist on a TV program say that a nuclear war between India and Pakistan would have serious effects on Australia, and effects of a nuclear war on the neighboring countries, I realised such a war is never possible. Which city in Pakistan could India attack if Pakistan didn't have nuclear weapons? Lahore? Lahore is only 15 miles from the Indian border. Karachi? Karachi is 685 miles from the Indian border with Gujarat. Islamabad? Islamabad is about 250 miles from the Indian border. With such close proximity, if India attacks Pakistan, it would also destroy many Indian cities too. No country can attack a neighboring country with a nuclear bomb. Also, if you remember, during Musharraf's time when India assembled its forces on the Pakistan border after a terrorist attack on their parliament, President Musharraf walked up to the Indian Prime Minister at a conference and shook hands with him to defuse the tension. My point is, if a war ever breaks out between India and Pakistan, the use of nuclear weapons is out of the question.

I explained you in detail, if Pakistan attacks India through a nuclear weapon , it would mean Pakistan is attacking itself. A country can not attack a neighboring country with a nuclear bomb. If Australia is saying they will be affected if Pakistan and India engage in a nuclear conflict then how could Pakistan be safe after attacking India through a nuclear bomb.

I agree with you and that is exactly what I tried to say in the post that a nuclear war between the two neighbours is beyond comprehension. In case a whisky-mad intoxicated general ventured on this catastrophic route, it would destroy the whole of Pakistan in 72 hours and 2/3 of India in 120 hours because of its vast territory.
