Now and then I ask myself a question which keeps me awake at night, which keeps me worried all the time. May be its complete and utter non sense but when I look at my country I realise why I have become so negative.
“What is Pakistan?” There may be many ways to address this question. Geographically Pakistan is a piece of land which gives recognition to more than 160 million people. In the trade world it is an exporter and importer of different goods. From military point of view it’s a jackpot which everyone wants to win. Economically it is a place which allows further opportunities to the elite and rich to increase their wealth.
So many answers to one simple question except its not as simple as it looks. I further ask myself that what if there is nothing, what if there are no imports and exports what if there is no military interest, what if there are no opportunities to make money in Pakistan. Would this make me love it any less? Would it make me feel lesser pain for it? Would there be no Pakistan? And thus a simple question does not remain simple any more.
I have seen people from different nationalities but I have never seen anyone who loves a piece of land as much as a Pakistani. Do you know why? Do you know why he still loves it when there are all those things that make life unbearable for a common man? Even in the worst of times he still hopes for a better future, a better outcome?
I know why, because “He is Pakistan”. Because I am Pakistan and every single child that is born in this land is Pakistan and every single person who has died, his body has become a part this soil, part of this land.
I don’t know the answer of whether this land would be safe in the coming future but I do know one thing that Pakistan would always exist for as long as there is even a single Pakistani on this earth.
