Well the correct sentence would be that everybody in Pak can understand URDU, but they have their own language like Pushto, Sindhi, Punjabi and Balochi etc.
But the prob is not the language itself, its the usage of language in past and still going on in khi. I think most people on this forum dont understand the real prob.

I have a question for all of u. Normally police is not educated all over pak, but if u go to a police station at lahore,in which language they would talk with u or in other words insult u? most probably in punjabi. And in Peshawar probably pushto, in quetta - balochi/pushto, inner sindh - sindhi.
But in khi, they will gonna talk with u in punjabi or sindhi and use bad language. Keep in mind that majority in khi dont understand any language other than urdu.

My father told me that in govt. offices during 70s, they took interview in punjabi, just to fail the local population.
MQM good or bad is a long debate, but keep in mind that MQM is only the reaction.

Please when accusing MQM or anyother party, just be careful to not provide anything to come back as a reaction. Difference of Opinion is one thing and spreading hatred is totally different.

MQM was formed by Zia to create a balance or as an opponent force against Bhutto's Sindh by using racial card and highligthing unequalities like Quota system etc. But look though yourself and ask a question to yourself, have you really tried to mingle in the locals who were and are in far larger majority than yourself.

Your father gave you an example of Punjabi in 70's but did he ever ask you to learn Sindhi. He has cultivated racilaism into you, Don't do that your childern, if you want them to live in peace and harmony. Sindh is your host community and you should feel Sindhi and Pakistani rather than Mohajir after 65 years of welcome you have enjoyed from Sindh.

Let me answer u point wise:

language i prefer, u must be joking..i invite u to go to any police station and check for urself. There is nothing happened what u prefer. But if u start talking with them in punjabi than u will feel the difference in behaviour immediately. Im not lying or telling u stories, its something we face every time.

I dont care who created MQM, and im not gonna defend MQM for any wrong deeds. Please dont pull me in MQM good/bad debate. I was just trying to share or elaborate the problem. I dont know how u can say that urdu speaking were/are in minority. As the people migrated to khi, khi was the capital of pak. How can u say that Sindh was the host. Capital was not the part of a province. Even at that time the urdu speaking people were in majority and they r still in majority in khi.
And people learn languages, if they r in minority or if they need it for their social/economical life. As people learn in pak english bcoz we need it for social/eco reasons. Its just how nature works, u can not force somebody to learn a language which u dont need. And if u want to live in khi, than u dont need to learn sindhi. Believe me, there is no racialism in that.

Bro...i have never used the word Mohajir in my last response, Im a Muslim even before a sindhi/pakistani. My grandfather left his home and came to pak not for wealth but just for Islam and i will remain in pak as long as im allowed to live by Islam.
