TUQ's honesty, transparency and corruption of donation money. I mentioned earlier on why TUQ is not honest and transparent about the donation money. An example of this is shown in below. Its quite long - but I have highlighted relevant parts. It is obvious from reading below a few things:
- Abid Gilani was never asked to submit receipts/vouchers on expenses for TUQ's office in ISB - where it is said the expense was over 150k a month
- Abid Gilani was only asked to resign when he started exposing TUQ :)
So, as long as you suck up to TUQ and follow him blindly - you can do as you like .. in this case spend donation money without any accountability but when you start speaking against TUQ .. then you are in trouble. SHAME ON TUQ!!!!

Expulsion of Syed Abid Gilani and Naveed Baig from Minhaj-ul-Quran & PAT and resignation of Syed Asmat Gillani from basic membership of Minhaj-ul-Quran

Sayyad Abid Gilani has been affiliated with Minhaj-ul-Quran International (Islamabad) for a long time beginning with Minhaj-ul-Quran Youth league (MYL). He was later made media incharge and was appointed as central Secretary Information when the PAT Media & Foreign Relations Office was setup in Islamabad in 1999. Mr Naveed Baigh was appointed as Director DFA was also involved in this office.
Mr Abid Gilani has been held in high regard by central leadership of MQI.
The Islamabad media office cost MQI one hundred and fifty thousand to two hundred thousand rupees per month. Due to the high regard and trust which Headquarter had in Mr Abid Gilani, he was exempted from the formal submission of receipts a and vouchers
Up to the 2002 elections there never showed any differences with the leadership of MQI. Just before the election Mr Abid Gilani became very sick but matters continued as they were. After the October 2002 elections, it was decided by the central leadership that the Islamabad Media office is to be closed down as the monthly expenditure of two to three hundred thousand rupees per month was no longer feasible or affordable. Mr Abid Gilani was informed of this and was asked to close the office by the end of November 2002 and empty the building. This was the starting point when a negative tendency was visible from Mr Abid Gilani.
Mr Abid Gilani was made a member of the Future Planning Committee of MQI which was setup to assess the election campaign, election results, over all feedback, formation of future strategy and policy, and formation of a new system. He attended and actively participated in its meetings. He never put forward any sort of reservations nor any criticism of the leadership in these meetings.
Six months before Mr Abid Gilani started the false propaganda against MQI and its leader secretly. If he had any reservations then he should have presented them to the Future Planning Committee or to the Central Executive of MQI or the newly formed CWC. If he was not convinced in using these channels then he could have spoken to Qaid Inqilab directly. If he was not up to talking to him directly he could have put it to him in writing, but he did not. Mr Abid Gillani did not even ask for a meeting with Qaid Inqilab let alone have a meeting with him.
When the CWC was being setup, Mr Abid Gilani was contacted by the central leadership in order to induct him as Nazim in the CWC but he avoided coming to Lahore and taking up office. He continued spreading propaganda against the mission and its leader. When the central leadership was informed of his conduct, the central Nazim Ala had one-to-one meetings with him, and then later on telephone told him to stop his anti mission activities. Every time Mr Abid Gilani promised to stop his anti mission activities. The central leadership received reports that he has not ceased his activities.
After all else failed to stop the anti mission activities of Mr Abid Gilani, as a last resort, Mr Tanveer Ahmad Qureshi, a senior member of MQI and Nazim Tamweelat in the CWC, was sent as a representative of the CWC and the central leadership to him in Islamabad. Again Mr Abid Gilani promised that he will stop what he was doing.
In the second week of August 2003, the central leadership received concrete evidence from workers of MQI who are abroad made it clear that not only were they continuing their anti mission propaganda against MQI within Pakistan but also outside Pakistan.
In the same way Mr. Naveed Baig was appointed as Director Foreign Affairs PAT and Personal Secretary for personal Diplomatic Affairs to Qaid Inqilab. Later he was appointed as Director Directorate of Foreign Affairs MQI. When the new system came into operation he was appointed as member High Level Committee DFA, Senior Research Scholar Farid-e-Millat Research Institute. It is very sad for MQI that he has also been equally involved with Mr Abid Gilani in spreading this propaganda outside Pakistan after he had been bestowed with such high confidence from the MQI Central leadership, especially as he had contact with MQI members world-wide. In this way he was also involved in polluting their minds.
According to Article 13 of the MQI constitution, the basic membership of Mr. Abid Gilani and Mr. Naveed Baigh could have been terminated but due to their long relationship and affiliation with MQI, the CWC, decided that both of them should be given a chance to explain their cases. On 23rd August 2003 Mr. Abid Gilani and Mr. Naveed Baigh were informed by letter that they were violating Article 13 of the MQI constitution and must appear before the CWC on the 27th of August to answer the charge of anti-mission behaviour, polluting the minds of workers with lies and false information with out making an official complaint about any matter. Mr Naveed Baigh was informed to give his viewpoint by telephone and present his case. It was made clear to them that if they fail to participate in the meeting then it will be clear that they do not have anything to reject the charges against them. Mr. Abid Gilani did not attend the meeting and did not give any written notice of his absence. Mr. Naveed Baig emailed many people saying that he has resigned from MQI. He offered his dissatisfaction with the CWC meeting. He announced that he has no confidence in the leadership of MQI.
The CWC has decided that Mr. Abid Gilani and Mr. Naveed Baigh and those who have been involved with them in their anti mission activities, no longer have anything to do with MQI. Their basic membership is terminated under Article 16 of the MQI constitution. It is worth mentioning that Mr Abid Gilani never became a member of MQI. He only became a member of Minhaj-ul-Qran Youth league (MYL) and became a defaulter for not paying the membership fee of MYL from July 1998. The CWC decided that. Members of MQI should not have any sort of contact with Mr. Abid Gilani, Mr. Naveed Baigh and those who are involved with them in their anti mission activities, in relation to MQI/PAT, as from today they have nothing to do with MQI/PAT.
Resignation of Sayyad Ismat Shah Sahib Gilani from MQI
A letter was sent to Mr. Abid Gilani and Mr. Naveed Baigh with regards to their anti-mission activities on the 23rd of August 2003. Mr Ismat Gilani was not mentioned in that letter in any way what so ever. But as Mr. Abid Gilani is his younger brother and Mr. Naveed Baigh his ‘mureed’ and associate, Mr Ismat Gilani, reacted to the action being taken against them and has offered his resignation of his basic membership of MQI, without speaking to or informing the central leadership, CWC and Qaid Inqilab. He has sent a press release with his resignation and criticism of MQI and its leader to the press with it being published in the newspapers of the 27th of August. The central leadership of MQI and the CWC never expected this response from him. We would have expected someone who is known as a knowledgeable and a spiritual personality to follow the example Sayyadana Umar Farooq, when his son was sentenced guilty of a crime, he himself punished his son with lashes. Also the Seerah of the Prophet SAW when a lady from Quraish called Fatima was sentenced for steeling and someone tried to get her punishment quashed He said that if Fatima daughter of Muhammad had stolen then her hand would be cut off.
If Syed Ismat Shah sahib was not happy with what the explanation letter issued to Naveed Baig and Abid Gilani he should have at least contacted the central leadership, the CWC or Qaid Inqilab himself by word or by writing, to clarify their position, but he did not do this.
The CWC of MQI did not have any option but to unwillingly accept his resignation. The CWC also announces that Mr Ismat Gilani from today has no link with MQI/PAT. The CWC has further decided that members, workers and supporters of MQI should not have any missionary/organisational contact with him and those who are involved in anti mission activities. They should remain vigilant of conspiracies against the mission.
With regards to the allegations put forward by Mr. Ismat Gilani, the central leadership will say nothing other than that if he had so many reservations then it was his duty to put them to the central leadership or directly to Qaid Inqilab. He never did this. Contrary to this, a selection of his views regarding MQI and its leader up until yesterday are given below with references.
1. Youth Reception Ama, Denmark (26-11-97)
Whilst mentioning his visit to ‘Gumgoal Sharif’ he says “when I arrived at Gumgoal Sharif, a famous scholar from Gujranwala also arrived there. That scholar was saying to the peer of Gumgoal Sharif that he did not do right in inviting Tahir-ul-Qadri to do a speech at the Mousilium. The Pir sahib said in my presence, “Oh son of a Jew, you are talking Rubbish.” Pir of Gumgoal sharif then went onto say, ‘I am present in the presence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. When ever I go into the presence of the holy Prophet (SAW), I always find Tahir-ul-Qadri there, in fact he does not leave the presence of the Prophet (SAW).”
2. Annual ‘Milad-e-Mustafa’ Paris (2-6-2001)
“Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran is not a mob of unabluted Mullahs. It is a party of the lovers of the Prophet (SAW), this is the party of Muhammad-e-Arabi (SAW), this is the party of Imam Hussain.” “. . . When Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran comes to an end, on that day we will stop talking. Only he can speak and one can only speak about something, where the path is clear. Do not consider Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri as any common man off the street, he is the last perfection of this century. God has given him mountains of ability. The 21st century is the century of the revival of Islam. The largest and most important role in this will be by Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran, because no one else has a leadership with such capability.”
3. Birthday of Qaid-e-Inqilab, Manchester (19-2-2002)
“Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has taught mankind how to live. You have made earthly people into heavenly ones. Donot think Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri is a run of the mill mosque Imam. He is a gift of Allah. He is a gift like Mujaddid Alif Thani, like Shah Wali Ullah, like Pir Mehr Ali. So at the end of the day there must be some reason that a Sardar Jee in Canada said that he saw ‘Baghwan’ in the face of Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri. The one who has given life to souls is Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri. Donating in the Mustafvi Inqilab fund is taking part in building of Masjid-e-Nabvi; Taking part in Gumbad-e-Khazrah. I am working for Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran because the Qibla of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is correct.”
4. Miraj-un-Nabi, Oslo, Norway (16-11-97)
“Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri is full of multi dimensional wide-ranging knowledge…… he is full of both piety and capability.” Whilst mentioning a secret Israeli delegation which visited Imam Khumani and then went to Lahore. The delegation then said, ‘there is nothing in Pakistan but Tahir-ul-Qadri, he is the danger for the world.’” Then he (Mr Ismat Gilani) said, ‘now Kufr is trembling”. Note: the ambassador of Pakistan to Norway at the time Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi was the special quest of the program who was also present.
5. “By the Grace of Allah, from the feet of Qaid Inqilab, we have received so much, so much, so much that no one else has received it. It is as though from his attention we were first dead and then became alive again. When someone dies once, all his habits and desires die…… Until I had met Qaid Inqilab I did not understand the concept of ‘Taqwah’. Until I had not met Qaid Inqilab I did not understand what ‘Taqwah’ was the name of”. At a reception Copenhagen…… “this is not a reception for me but for Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri who ever is speaking from my tongue it is Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri. This reception is not for Gillani but for Qadri. We have turned the attention of people to Lahore; turned it towards Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri, turned it to Madina.”
6. Farewell speech Walby, Idara (2-12-97)
“Once in a speech I said Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri is the Mujaddid Alif Thani of this era. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is Shah Wali Ullah, but by one dimension he has a superiority over Shah Wali Ullah. He is the Mujaddid Alif Thani of this era. He is the Shah Wali Ullah of this era. He is the Ibn Jawzi of this era. He is the Shaykh Abdul Qadri Gilani of this era. He is the Imam Razi of this era. He is the Ghazali of this era. He is the Awais of this era. He is the Umar Farooq of this era. He is the Usman Ghani of this era. He is the Abu Bakr Siddique of this era. In terms of his status of knowledge Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri is by no means lower than Muhaddis-e-Dehlvi. He is a copy of Mujaddid Alif Thani. Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri is the roar of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani. Mujaddid Alif Thani was ‘Qutab-ul-Irshad’. In the current era Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri is ‘Qutab-ul-Irshad’. There is no doubt that the status which Mujaddid Alif Thani had at birth, that status is today held by Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri.”
7. Speech (2-7-2000)
“I said in a speech some where that Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri is Mujaddid Alif Thani. That he is the Mujaddid of the time. That he is the Mujaddid Alif Thani of this time. That he is the Shaykh Ahmad Sarhandi of the time. If I referred to Tahir-ul-Qadri as Mujaddid so what? So what if I called him Abu Bakr. The truthfulness which was in Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) is in Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri. I only called him a Mujaddid. The Prophet (SAW) said the Ulama of my Ummah are like the Prophet’s of Bani Israeel. That the ulama of my ummah are the Musa of the time, Isa of the time, Dawood of the time. Let me say, that if the saying of my Mustafa is true then my Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri is the Musa of the time who is challenging all pharos. My Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri is the Isa of the time, who blows souls into dead hearts. He is the Dawood of the time who challenges kufr with the message of Tauhid.”
8. Speech, The Hague (12-12-95)
“Only Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran is showing the true path in this age. All the other ulama and pirs are fraudsters, ‘Dajjals’ and deceivers. Only Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran is showing the true path. If it is a crime to travel on this path then I am the biggest criminal. Whoever does not want to go on this path he is a criminal and fraudster. I donot have the habit of loose talk. My ancestors have taken me by the hand and have put me on this path. I might have gone astray but Wow! Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri you saved me from going astray. You made me into a true Muslim. You put me before the Prophet (SAW). You made me a mountain of promise.”

“This is not an organisation but a movement. The leader of an organisation is answerable to the people but the leader of a movement is only answerable to Allah(SWT). Allah reveals onto his heart. He is revolutionary. No one has explained the Quran in the previous two centuries, in such an open way. I speak so openly because, no one before Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran and its leader have given this message. Here the Quran is not only recited but here it speaks. I say these things my heart is clear in this and I have complete belief that out of all the movements in this world, Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran is in the first line, angels come down on to the heart of the leader. He is a mountain of stability. Allah reveals on the leader via angels.”
10. Speech, Paris (1-1-96)
Some Awliya (saints) have the light of Willayah, some have the light of Prophethood, this leadership i.e. Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has both lights. For this reason in the night he is a star and in the day shines like the sun. Over the past 200 years, tongues certainly moved but hearts did not. Hearts did not move because there was no one to move them. Allah has given such knowledge to the leadership of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran that when he speaks on worldly sciences then he is seen to be number one; when he speaks on religious sciences then he is also seen to be number one. Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has explained the Quran which has awoken the dead. Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has gone so deep into the Quran that he has himself become the Quran. My Qaid is deep inside the Quran, which is why he answers every question from the Quran.
11. Speech, Paris (1-1-96)
He says that once it was time to break the fast in the month of Ramadan, “Qaid-e-Inqilab came into my dream and strongly pinched me on my shoulder and said it is time for Iftari and you are asleep. I awoke up and saw the red bruise on my shoulder. When ever this bruise starts to disappear I make it fresh again by pinching it my self. This happened when Qaid-e-Inqilab sent me do Denmark. I had this dream in the Denmark Idara. When Qaid Inqilab sent me to Canada, my mother was very ill, at the doors of death, I traveled to Canada. After four days I phoned home, to my disbelief my mother answered the phone. She was completely healthy. This was all the blessing of Qaid-e-Inqilab his attention made my dear mother healthy.

Dear reader, you have read the quotations of Sayyad Ismat Shah Sahib Gilani from his speeches over the last twelve years. His latest views about Minhaj-ul-Quran and Qaid Inqilab are also before you in his resignation letter (click here to see) . You can judge for your self. The central leadership of MQI will not make any further remarks on this matter. Due to past experience any unpleasant environment should not be prolonged. Thus no such action will be taken from the central headquarters. The Central headquarters informs all members that they should not maintain any organizational or missionary relations with Sayyad Ismat Shah Sahib Gilani because of his one sided resignation from MQI. He has nothing to do with MQI and PAT.
