From day one India has played rough against Pakistan. Now it is playing with fire by assuming that it is at war with China. Lets hope for sanity to prevail in Chanakyapuri.

ISLAMABAD, PakistanGive the devil its due credit. An overwhelming majority in Pakistan considers India as a devil. Going by the idiom, India should be fully credited for sharp and foxy diplomacy for swaying the U.S to do the needful and fulfill their demands.

Obama started his visit by avoiding Indian medias demand of demonizing Pakistan. But he ended the visit doing just that. He lost midterm elections because of economy. So it was a smart move to hedge his bets for 2012 by committing India to buy $15 billions worth of American goods creating more then 60,000 jobs back home.
The US is the largest spending economy followed by the Europeans. Since these markets are saturated, looking for new buyers makes sense. With a billion people, India is a legitimate consumer. Thats why more than 150 CEOs of large US corporations traveled with Obama to sell.

America needs to sell its weapons somewhere. The Iraq war theater has dried down and Afghanistan is next to melt down so why not ask one of the largest arms purchasers to buy some of the weapons lying around. Boeing sold some C-17s and G.E. (General Electric) offered engines to Tejas, the troubled Indian light combat aircraft that has been in the testing phase for years.

From economy to defense to diplomacy, the Indians smartly played their cards by keeping them close to their chest and exploited the superpower for its weakness: the ailing economy.

In return, the US committed itself in a joint statement to eliminate alleged terror safe havens in Afghanistan and Pakistan and defeat all terrorists networks including the Kashmiri group Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LET) plus getting a nod from Obama for his support of Indian bid for UNSC permanent seat. Net result: a win-win situation for India.

There is not shred of a doubt that Obama came out as a loser in the fast moving thriller.

In all of this, India did what it is best in doing: deception. Once a nonaligned leader, India today is assuming a role it is not equipped to take: play rough against china and Pakistan.

Indian policymakers committed a huge blunder by playing hardball against Pakistan and poking China during Osamas visit. From day one India has played rough against Pakistan and is now playing with fire by assuming that it is at par with China. Sanity should now prevail over the policymakers in Chanakyapuri [a suburb in New Delhi where families of Indian ruling elite reside] as U.S is a shrewd practitioner of realpolitik. By playing along, India is expected to balance China. India and everyone else knows thats a tough task for India.

China is a force which has developed on it's own without babysitting by the west, india on the other hand has been held by hand first by the soviet union and now by the west to swell up like a blow fish to appear to be larger in size than reality. It is no brainer what the games are, neither to China nor to any one else.
The question of Pakistan is a unique one. Try as they may Allah always protects us, the reason we are not rising as mighty is because we are not following Allah's Kanoon for life, but always pray to him for help so we are saved but do not thrive. I feel that the times have changed, nay sayers should be ignored for they are doing some one else's job. Conviction and faith should be our guiding beacons. It is better to die trying rather than die at the hands of the backstabbers. All our efforts and friendship with other western nations has proven to be fruitless, the first opportunity they get they stab us, better lets start depending on our selves with Divine help. At the worst they will ditch us as they did after 1985, or they will bomb us like they are doing now but atleast everyone in Pakistan will be treated equally then.

Regarding the post:
Though Mr Harris makes some good points I don't agree with some of his remarks:
1) India's policy has never been anti-Pakistan. It has always been Pakistan who has created problems for India, hence India tries to contain or pressure Pakistan. All three wars have been initiated by Pakistan. Even India wants to have good relation with Pakistan. Stop talking about Kashmir, we are solving it.
2) India is not wests representative in south Asia. Nobody is using India to contain China. Indians know china is much more powerful than Indian militarily and economically. India is not Pakistan who will go to war for $$$. Trade between India and china is quite huge and rising rapidly. Both countries need each other and will continue to trade. We will eventually catch up with china no doubt about it. Relations between India and china will be even better when communism falls in china, hopefully it happens gradually and not like soviet union.
