How to make Pakistani women part of the work -force?

A nation can't make any progress if half of the people are sitting at home. Why majority of the Pakistani women choose to be home-makers?

Even in Canada, my cousins and sisters choose to be house-wives. Some of them don't even want to drive.

The thing that I hate the most is that there are many Pakistani females who become doctors, engineers, etc., in Pakistan and once they pass the pertinent programs they choose not to become career women.

This disease is most common among the middle-class people of Pakistan. The richest and the poorest females of the country usually work.

How to change the mindset? We need more people to push Pakistan towards its progress. Lets discuss.

I know a lot of people would say that it's a man dominated country. However, I have seen a lot of females who rather prefer a life of a home-maker.

They don't even have to work for money, they can do some volunteer work.

You are right I live in the west, I know exactly what happens to the women in the west. Nobody can lay a finger on them. If somebody does, he goes to jail. Do you know why? Because there are women police officers, judges, and news reporters in the west.

On a different note, do you know the contributions of Bibi Fatima to Islam and the world? Do you think that you and I can contribute more to our religion and the world, than her just because we have facial hair?

When muslim women fell sick , she should go to non muslim doctor ,

when our girls want education of science and medical , they should go to non muslims....

we should not do any thing , because we r muslim kings.....

You have raised a very good point, but it is not going to happen in our life time. It would take at least 2 more generations for people to open up their minds. In Pakistan girl's schools get burnt down and some of them get shot just for getting education, let alone getting a job.

You can see from Qaiser's comments; he represents the mindset of most Pakistanis. I don't mean any disrespect towards him, even some of my own family members think in a similar manner, where they think that there are only two extremes; keep women at home or adapt vulgar western culture. There is a middle ground; I, for example, work in a company where about 50-60 Indian females work and 1 Pakistani girl. I personally know the families of those Indians working and they have very similar culture as ours except the religion of course. I don't see them doing anything vulgar or their kids getting spoiled, in fact they raise very smart kids. Don't bash me for praising Indians, but the fact is they dominate (male and female) most professions in US working at good jobs. We should look at their example and educate our people that male/female can coexist at a work place without making it a hostile environment for women.

Few things to consider

their are not enough jobs in the country,not even for mens. Unemployment rate is high.Businesses are winding up.This provide few job opportunities which is then taken by men.

Their is not enough awareness in society for equal opportunity.people are sexist.They don't provide sound environment for women to work.Sexual harassment is often seen where law is taken for granted.

Women are only encourage to study but not supposed to work.When she gets married, she gives up her career or job she was already doing may be due to restrictions or family priorities.Then she has to wait till her children get old enough to do something for her own.May be try to picked the pieces of the career she left and start from scratch seems impossible at that age.

To conclude :
Women if provided opportunities,safe environment and given right training could economically benefit the society.However they should not be forced to work and instead encourage for what their goals are..If she want to be a house wife then it is also benefiting in a way that new generation is not neglected by parents who work and making sure their children contribute to the well-being of the society.

i feel pity for women in west (including Canada). they have to do all those things that Pakistan women do at home + do job as well. and all that on her own .very less chances for "kaam wali " unlike Pakistani women

aram pasand koom ko aisi batain na batain. Western ki example iss colum main iss lia di ja rahi he ke muslim muashrey main hamain koi athentic example nahn milti. i believe that women should also work because this way they will also feel more secure. Ofcourse it should not be 20 hours work but atleast 4 to 5 hours. They will have their separate money to support themselves and to their babies too and on the other hand man can save some money to fulfill their dreams(like house, business etc). when we talk that women should also work doesn't mean that all year 24/7 they need to work ofcourse they can work 6 months and then rest or 10 months and then for 2 months they spend full time with the family going on picnics with the family or traveling etc, but everything needs planning. May be i am wrong but i belive that we should not make life soo much hard.

Its not abt tat... Imeant..... Thrre r no jobs.... N the fact is woman can go on maternity .... For a risky economy or a small company tat might be dangerous.... Even in uk male salary on avg is bigger than female... Mainly because of maternity.... I knw in pakistan... 3 girls started job.. Got married ... Went on maternity on office expense never to return.... Our company cud afford it... Small company cant....
