How many cellphones can people travelling from abroad can bring to Pakistan per year?

کراچی: (روزنامہ دنیا) ملک بھر میں موبائل فون کی سمگلنگ کی روک تھام کے لیے نئی پالیسی پر عملدرآمد شروع ہو گیا، بیرون ملک سے آنے والے مسافر سال میں 5 سے زیادہ موبائل فون نہیں لاسکتے۔

ایئرپورٹ پر موجود پی ٹی اے کے کاؤنٹر پر آئی ایم ای آئی نمبر کا اندراج کرانا ضروری ہو گا۔ کسٹمز حکام کے مطابق وفاقی حکومت نے موبائل فونز کی درآمد کے لیے پی ٹی اے کا کلیئرنس سرٹیفکیٹ لازمی قرار دیا ہے، آئندہ صرف پی ٹی اے کی منظور کردہ اقسام کے موبائل فون سیٹ درآمد کیے جا سکیں گے، جس کے لئے وزارت تجارت کی جانب سے امپورٹ پالیسی آرڈر 2016 میں ترمیم کردی گئی ہے۔


امپورٹ پالیسی کے مطابق کوئی بھی مسافر ایک سال میں 5 موبائل فونز سے زیادہ نہیں لاسکتا، اس سے زیادہ لانے والے موبائل فونز کو ضبط کر لیا جائے گا جب کہ آئی ایم ای آئی کی رجسٹریشن کے بغیر چلنے والا موبائل فون بلاک ہو جائے گا۔

کسٹمز حکام کے مطابق کوئی بھی مسافر بیرون ملک سے آئے گا تو اسے ائیر پورٹ پر موجود کاؤنٹر پر آئی ایم ای آئی کا اندراج کرانا ضروری ہے جسے پی ٹی اے کے سوفٹ ویئر کے ذریعے فوری رجسٹرڈ کرلیا جائے گا۔ نئی امپورٹ پالیسی کے تحت مختلف برانڈز کے 186 اقسام کے موبائل فون پر 42 سے 430 ڈالر فی موبائل فون سیٹ تک کی درآمدی ویلیو کے مطابق کسٹمز ڈیوٹی و دیگر ٹیکس وصول کیے جائینگے جب کہ درآمد کنندگان کو پی ٹی اے کی جانب سے ڈی آئی آر بی ایس سسٹم کے ذریعے وائٹ لسٹ سے میچ کرنے اور موبائل فونزکی درست جی ایس ایم اے آئی ایم ای آئی نمبر یقینی بنانے کے بعد جاری کیا جانے والا کلیئرنس سرٹیفکیٹ فراہم کرنا ہو گا۔

And that's 5 phones per year per person, so if you have a family of 5 each one of you can bring 5 phones per year. That's 25 phones per year, what the hell you want to start a tax mobile phone business in Pakistan ?

Im more worried about the lines at the registration counters plus the powers you have given customs officers...now they can make more side money by closing their eyes and letting mobiles go for a few notes....Tax the importers who IMPORT sealed boxes to sell them.....not people who are traveling with their business n personal mobile phones!

Ik should intervene in this matter and make a simple policy for overseas Pakistani's who wants to bring mobile phones with them specially a single mobile ,whoever use mobile in Pakistan they automatically start paying 25% tax on every top up what else you wants from us

i got 3 mines only which i am using. then everyone in pak wanted to gift them phone so just 2 phone can't help when you have big family

The 5 doesn't include your 3. You are allowed to use them for up to a month. They'll be blocked only if you'll stay longer.

bhai i stay min 2 months. and i already paid tax when i bought my phones why should i pay double tax ? for us double tax and for mostly rich in pak living with no or zero tax

Well if you can afford 3 personal phones and spend 2 months on a break, then i'm sure you can also afford to pay duty. :) Don't forget to pay it next time! The poor who can't even afford one phone needs your every tax $! Thanking you in advance!

I have to pay a ton on my cigarettes when I travel. I have a choice to not smoke or just abide by the laws. Since the former is not an option for me, doesn't mean I start making hue and cry over it! ;)

I don't understand why they limit to one phone per person for ordinary Pakistani,when we go there we pay 25% ghunda tax to govt on every top up what else they want from us we had paid for Dam funds thousands of rupee for our country so this is reward for us ,more than 60% Pakistani been humaliated when they landed on any airport and it ended when we depart from there.,

bhai u sound really innocent. i have no problem in paying duty but not twice. putting more tax on overseas pakistani who is already contribution by sending $$$$$$$ gov much needed for debts .i love to spend on poors and spent lot in my life and will continue to spend direct.
do you know how many pakistani pay tax? why not take those 90% into tax net??
i appreciate u wanted gov to have more money and it could happen by taking people into tax net
