Let’s go through some facts now:

M. Saif Ur Rehman Khan had obtained his British A levels form a prestigious college in his hometown Islamabad, Pakistan.
He has been extensively travelling across the world for tourism, mostly to the UK where he had also been taking part in fashion modeling as an amateur.
Saif was suggested by his college principal (who also happened to be Visa Counselor of Chile in Pakistan) to go to Chile, Santiago to study Spanish language and to complete some time as an internee with the local Hotel.
He had been to the US earlier in 1996, and had a valid US visa several times. Most flights heading to South America do stop-over in United States. It was but natural for him to visit his brother in US. This also coincided with the winter break. He proceeded to the US in December 2009 end to visit his brother who is pursuing his doctoral studies at a university in the US.
He stayed in the US for a month and the family drove to Seaworld in Texas with his brother and his family. After a few weeks, he proceeded with his journey to Santiago, Chile (Jan 2010).
He completed his Spanish language course at a famous language institute in Santiago. He talked with his family in Pakistan and his brother in the US via Skype almost everyday. He has a very caring family.
In the week of Monday May 3rd, 2010, he got a call from a person named “Bill” from the US Embassy who asked him for a visit. He was not told about any visa issues or revoking procedures. Thus it seemed strange to him and his family that he was being called by the US embassy. Nevertheless, based on his advise from his friends and family he informed the director of the language institute as well as a friend from the Pakistan embassy. The person at the Pakistani embassy in Chile also advised him to take all his document to the US embassy along with him as Saif was unsure about the reason for being called to the US embassy.
Saif’s US visa was valid for the next five years and it never crossed anyone’s mind that he was being called for visa revoking as per the media reports now. As per practice he had received his US visit visa from Islamabad after thorough investigation.
Saif called back the person from the US embassy who had called him but a lady picked up the phone. She initially said if he was “Ayoob”, on which Saif replied that he was Muhammad Saif-ur-Rehman Khan. So he was told to be at the US embassy at 3:00 pm on Monday.
On Monday morning, Saif first visited the Spanish language (eFronteres) institute where he studied and met the Director of the Institute.
Later in the day, he went to the US embassy. Not even knowing the purpose of his visit, he took all his educational documents with him. He was able to meet an officer inside his embassy who told him that everything is ok.
Then he took his documents and afterwards had him arrested on charges that his documents were detected with an “explosive substance”.
Right after that he was handed over to the Chilean police.
Without any charges, he was in detention from Monday to Saturday (5 days) and his family was and is devastated. He was later released based on courts judgment and again put behind bars for about a week.
The family found out about him through media reports and has not been able to contact him.
The Chilean police investigated and searched his apartment and no traces of any explosive substances were found there. It seems very controversial that the Special Police claims that it did find traces of some substance while the Chilean police did not find any traces of any harmful substance. “

Saif will inshaAllah (God willing) be relieved of all the false and baseless accusations. He is innocent and has nothing to do with anything that would go against humanity. He is loving, caring and a great brother and a son.

Some facts about Saif Khan’s case.

Contrary to the malicious campaign launched over the weeks regarding Saif Khan having traces of residues of some explosive tetryl on him, it has been proven that there were no traces of any such substance on his hands or skin. Otherwise it would have caused dermatitis disease.

Saif Khan’s cell phone and educational documents which allegedly had traces of a potentially harmful substance were confiscated inside the US embassy . Facts speak for themselves, and if Saif’s hands had no traces of residue of tetryl, how did they come on his cell phone and documents?! They were obviously not handled by Saif Khan. Truth is quite evident!

The prosecutors in Chile did not file an appeal against Saif Khan in the court last week. Instead, the Chilean Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter filed an appeal against Saif’s freedom, which was rightly rejected by the court.
Even with all the negative campaign to malign Saif continuing, the Chilean people stand firm with innocent Saif. There are many contradictions in this case from the opponents.

Who is Rodrigo Hinzpeter?

Ridiculous propaganda again!

Ridiculous propaganda again!

Since the unfortunate day of May 10th, the baseless and vile offensive against innocent Saif Khan continues. From his detention without any charges or proof, to the continuous lies against him, there seems to be a deliberate attempt as part of their paranoia to implicate an innocent person based on conspiracy theories. The opponents must understand that they just cannot continue with their hate campaign against a person of a particular religion and nationality. This vile campaign only damages the credibility of the opponents.

The Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter must make up his mind and stop confusing and belittling the Chilean nation. Sometimes, there is an attempt to link Saif with illicit groups outside Chile. Then, new irresponsible statements emerge linking Saif with a certain group inside Chile.

Such acts are not worthy of the stature of an Interior Minister. To make the matters complicated and confusing, everything is kept secret. This vile propaganda campaign resonates with the same scare tactics used elsewhere in the world to subdue an innocent person and his peace loving well wishers. Let there be no mistake that Saif Khan, his family, friends, and the Chilean nation stand strong and reject in the strongest words these new lies.

Over the past days, a number of accusations were laid against innocent Saif one after another. These accusations which have been countered on this blog and elsewhere.

* Innocent Saifs pictures were circulated in media trying to give a wrong impression about a picnic as something of a terrorist training. Mr. Hinzpeter himself talked about these pictures trying to give a wrong impression, although this matter has been clarified at length. Not only is this vile propaganda despicable, but also a shameful act that deserves the highest condemnation. Chilean people are not naive not to understand the reality about innocent Saif Khan.
* In reference to the latest accusation regarding some links, the truth is that the minister himself needs to give an explanation of why he is trying to invent new illicit links? What is he gaining out of all this drama and persecution? Who is he loyal to the Chilean people or someone outside Chile?
* Mr. Hizpeter also said that there needs to be an explanation of how the chemicals reached Saifs documents. We categorically state that it is the prosecutors who must explain who put those chemicals on Saifs documents. The investigations have clearly revealed that Saif did not have any traces of explosive substance on his hands, skin and clothes. How then would they reach his documents and cell phone? They were obviously put on the documents and cell phone by someone else.

Why are the opponents trying to confuse people? Why is a universal principle forgotten one is innocent until proven guilty. It is not the defences job to investigate the reasons for this alleged substance. The truth of the matter is that till now the opponents have absolutely failed to clarify the reasons for the existence of alleged residues and declare him guilty. Moreover they seem to be so helpless in obtaining the testimonies of all the suspected parties in the case.

Being cognizant of the need of a peaceful society, in light of the latest accusations it seems that there is an attempt to create a terrorism phobia in Chile. Every passing day, only shakes the weak credibility of the opponents.

Mr. Hinzpeters personal interest in this particular case and indulgence in details is amazing. He should let the prosecutors do their job. Instead of hatching conspiracy theories against Saif Khan in media, attention needs to be paid to point the investigations in the right direction and gain meaningful results.

Thanks digitalzygot.

InshaAllah truth always prevails. This widespread discrimination against Muslims and Pakistanis can only be countered through awareness. For that we need to raise our voice, write and spread the word in a civilized manner.

There is strength in unity and the level of awareness is not at a point that the governments listen to the voice of the people of Pakistan. Its Saif today, it could be anyone tomorrow.

Please show solidarity with this innocent Pakistani. There seems to be no pressure from Pakistanis regarding this case.

For latest updates please join his Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/truthaboutsaif

Also spread the word. There are thousands who have no idea that this even happened.

US embassy official in Chile won't testify on terror suspect

The consular official who escorted Pakistani citizen Mohammed Saif Ur Rehman Khan at the US Embassy in Chile before his arrest on weapons charges has not testified in the case, claiming diplomatic immunity.

Consular official William (Bill) Whitaker identified himself as "Mr. Bill" at the time he led Pakistani national Mr. Rehman Khan to a small room in the embassy compound. Later he asked to photocopy his documents and requested to have his cellular phone. He left, leaving the door locked. About half an hour later Mr. Khan was arrested by personnel from the embassy on charges that traces of Tetryl, a rare explosive material, had been detected in his phone.

The American consul, who was instrumental in the arrest of Mr. Khan, has not testified before the prosecution, claiming that embassy officials who participated in the arrest have diplomatic immunity. With this, it remains unclear why Whitaker called Khan to the embassy and what details of his background were available to the US Embassy.

The prerogative allows diplomats to avoid trials and investigations in foreign countries, and they can only be requested to answer questions in the courts of their own country.
Upon his arrest, Mr. Khan was formalized on charges of violation of the law of arms and explosives and the Chilean Ministry of Interior further charged him on grounds of a terrorist conspiracy linked to radical Islamic groups. Chilean police proceeded to investigate Mr. Khan’s residence, belongings and connections, and did not find sufficient evidence to maintain his detention. He has been released, detained again, and released a second time by the Court of Guarantees. Later, the Court of Appeals confirmed his provisional release on 8 June. Mr. Khan must remain in Chile until the end of the investigation. The refusal of Embassy officials to testify impairs bringing this matter to a close.

Although embassy officials had refused to testify, Mr. Stanley Stoy, the FBI representative in Chile, voluntarily gave up immunity and allowed a few questions. According to sources from the Public Ministry, in this occasion Mr. Stoy spoke only obliquely of what happened during the security operation at the embassy. When asked about details of the procedure, he apologized saying that those were internal matters of the embassy.

Mr. Khan, is 28-year-old, he studied hotel management in Islamabad, Pakistan, and in the UK. He said that a former teacher had suggested to him to travel to Chile to study Spanish and work in a hotel. Before traveling to Chile, he visited a brother in the United States using an American visa.

After arriving in Santiago, he got a room in a boarding house and enrolled in a six-week Spanish language course. Later, he got a job at a hotel to work as a front desk clerk. He got a few friends, was attending a local mosque and started dating a Chilean woman.
“I was living a normal life,” he said in an interview.

On May 7, several Americans visited the mosque at the time he was just ending his prayers. They wanted to talk with someone at the mosque who could speak English. “They said they wanted to talk about religion”, Mr. Khan declared.

Three days later, on May 10, he responded to the request of the US embassy to bring his documents for verification and was arrested on charges of possession of explosives and being suspected of terrorism.

A Chilean Senator stands firm in support of innocent Saif and Muslims of Chile:

Chilean Senator Alejandro Navarro speaks about Pakistan and innocent Saif ur Rehman, in a popular TV program “Mano a Mano” on TVN 24 Horas. (Spanish)

English Translation

(0:58 the introduction is about a mining royalty)

J: Senator welcome, but. Before starting talking about all these topics, there is one in particular that is in my head turning and turning but I cant completely understand it; and many people asked to me about this, and also with a sense of duty, this youngster Saif ur Rehman, this Pakistani youngster that is now in our country and his case that became in a suspense and international intrigue novel that makes me remember a novel called “midnight express” that a movie was also made. I almost have a feeling that we are experimenting the same. What are the backgrounds that you have? What is really happening beneath all? What explains this entirely unique situation that is happening in the justice courts!?

Senator Navarro: Alejandro, thank you for your invitation. Saif is calm with his family. His parents traveled from Islamabad to Santiago, they have
spend here almost two weeks. He is free now, the interior ministry has appealed twice, but he is free. So there is insufficient evidence to convince the court that he is a hazard to the society. If I can put this in these words, he came to Chile invited by the Chilean government. It was Catalina Alliende, the Chilean consul in Islamabad who adviced him to come to Chile, who gave him the visa, who looked for a place to study for him, who looked for a job for him, so she was a
fundamental pillar. His family knows her since 16 years ago, knows him and his brother, so here happened something that it must be solved in the sake of the transparency with which the government departments must operate, but also for the decisive action, not incriminatory, of the state and the media, because he has been criminalized, and what I asked for is for him to be investigated, because I contacted him when the anti-terrorism law was applied to him, because I thought about: Elena Varela, 2 years in prison now she is free without any charge, Jaime Huenchullan, temucuycuy leader, 1 year and a half in prison now
free without any charge, this two cases because of the anti-terrorism law. And with saif, this law was applied to him in the very beginning
and I think that this law does not allow a proper defense of his rights.

J: and automatically he receives a different treatment in the court?

Senator Navarro: well, there are “no face” witnesses, lack of access to brief procedures, yet these two hearings have been secret, so myself and his
family we set an agreement. They are calm, waiting for the prosecutor to present all the evidences that he has, there are 120 days, his family and his father that is also a medical doctor are going to stay until saif remains completely free, sacrifying his job in Islamabad, because this case has also brought a strong debate in Pakistani politics. I am the president of a Pakistani-Chilean friendship team, and the senators of Pakistan are very worried because they feel discrimination. Because if we accept that being a Muslim is being a terrorist than we are walking on a very complex path. We want him to be investigated, the prosecutor to investigate but we don’t want that they called him guilty in a rush.

J: But there are something else, I have a feeling, just a feeling that maybe a political intrigue beneath that escapes from this youngster in particular. He appears to be a piece in all this scenario that is trying to create a positive feeling about some kind of politics.

Senator Navarro: Alejandro, I am sure that this is a set up, because the company that caught him is a private security company, whose backgrounds are
not known for us inside the USA Embassy. We asked them to present the evidence about him being caught, videos, anything, but they don’t have it because he was isolated, nothing of that happens. So I feel that the US politics about terrorism, that is spread worldwide, has some behavior patterns. And here, they “detect” one of this patterns, and they acted like they use to act with known terrorists, and Saif fulfill this “pattern” since all this issue started that led
him to this. Once I saw footage from US tv of police officers coming out of a Pakistani terrorist house with white suits and everything, and then I saw the same footage in Chilean tv, so people think “there are bombs”. I feel that this state of alert has injured him! I want this to be investigated, and I think that all this started outside the Chilean borders. We asked to be investigated if the CIA or the FBI are here in Chile investigating terrorism issues, and if that is the
situation, I want to know as senator and as citizen. This is a question that is still not answered.

J: What is the role played by the Chilean Interior Ministry when they present some evidence that is not permissible in any place. They accused him of attending some mosque;; I never knew that it was a crime and it is not. He is accused of meeting some people, but not one of them has charges that are not even investigated before by the Chilean justice system. So how could that be a crime when the Chilean justice never accused one of them?

Senator Navarro: Alejandro, look, Pakistan is a country with 170 million population. 97% of this population are Muslims and this situation created a deep
resentment because is well known that the evidence is extremely weak, so here we have a presumption that I think that is nothing but discrimination. We told Minister Hinzpeter, if you have evidence, present it and investigate him. This is because I also want to fight against terrorism, but the way the US fights against terrorism is a wrong way. They fooled the whole world, in Iraq, they fooled all humanity. They fooled the UN. At least they did not fool ex-president Lagos,
because all talk about weapons of mass destruction is a lie. So in this prosecution politics, intelligence organizations, they overreact trying to create scenarios or trying to anticipate certain scenarios. I hope that the interior ministry acts with responsibility, to present all the evidence and to investigate deeply. Until now, I am sure that saif has nothing to do with all these.

J: In the congress/Senate you don’t have a feeling that the interior ministry may be connected with international intelligence services because of something that we don’t know?

Senator Navarro: What we formally have is the ANI (National Intelligence Agency) and we hope them to perform “intelligence” because in the past they never
did it. And if there is information, this must be channeled, so that it can determined that the information is confidential, that is possible, the ministry can act in a defensive way, but in one minute, this must be solved, because later we can have a kind of psychosis. I want to tell you that the Muslim community is also hurt and felt attacked because the main issue in saifs detention is still his Muslim condition. There is no other fact most concrete than the fact that he is a Muslim. I want in the sake of diplomatic relationships, and in the sake of a good coexistence in Chile, political and religious, that this case must be investigates and if is necessary, that the case must be processed or they must ask forgiveness. But something must be made. This must be solved, investigated and we don’t want to prejudge.

Not one word of support from any serving Pakistani MNA or senator??!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shameful.

Are Pakistanis dead?

Its sad looking at the replies on this thread. Is there any hope?

The least one can do is speak and write.

How many Pakistanis have joined his facebook page? There are already 3 Facebook pages for innocent Saif with thousands of members by brave Chileans. They must be wondering... Pakistanis themselves do not support their fellow Muslim and Pakistani.
