I don't eat beef, and neither do i know any Hindu who eats beef. However i know muslims who eat beef and i am fine with that. Everybody should do what they like to do. If somebody migrated from India because they wanted to revel in killing cows, and now are finding that human life is as easily snuffed out too, that is their nemesis. Vegetarianism has been promoted in the Indian culture mainly because it instils gentleness and non-violence in people. There are muslims who don't touch meat and they are not freaks. For many poor muslims eating non-vegetarian food is a luxury they can't afford. So it becomes a way of life. Even the Chinese are taking to vegetarianism. Who would have thought that possible? Food for thought for the haters club. :)

Some intellectual non-veg loving friend on a discussion on this issue told me that even plants have life, so by eating are you not killing them ? My answer was, well, I can grow the same plant again in my backyard, tell how we can give back life to an animal ? Plants are the only ones which has seeds inside to be grown again. I haven't seen any genetically made animal or human but it is proven that you can genetically grow a plant ?

Aray baba beef khana is for hindus what eating pork is for muslims. Fark sirf itna hai that you consider pig impure and we consider cow pure . And those who are vegetarian do not eat any kind of meat. Half of India's population is vegetarian.

Firstly , All Beef is not COW ,
Secondly , Ancestral Houses are not to be bought , Right ? I said a Muslim cant buy , i didnt say that Muslims dont HAVE houses .
The ones who have it , Have it pre Partition , Now they cant buy Specially in Mumbai ,

FYI muslims own prime properties in Mumbai. And Shabana Azmi's family owns a bungalow opposite prithvi theatre in juhu mumbai. Its called azmi cottage. Some societies don't allow meat eaters because of their religious beliefs. They could be anybody. At the same time rich muslims own huge apartments. Its not like they can't buy properties but many jains and gujratis do not allow meat eaters in their vicinity. There was a Mcdonalds at vile-parle in mumbai and the gujratis in the area forced them to drop all non-veg from the menu. So even Mcdonalds has to bend if the locals consider it offensive. Shabana Azmi's brother is married to a marathi brahmin girl. Mumbai is not such a narrow minded city at all. But rich people who own apartments in good societies have a legal right to deny anybody a house, no questions asked. Muslims have to respect the feelings of others too, its no big deal if somebody doesn't eat beef, they won't die from it. When it comes to Muslims all the religious rules are accepted by others and adhered to, so it goes with the territory that they must compromise too.Especially because the concerned people are vaishnavs and jains, who have very peculiar habits.
As far as being discriminated goes, definitely bias exists, as much as it exists between man and woman, rich and poor, fair and dark, fat and thin, beautiful and ugly, and the list goes on. However the Indian muslims also have grown intellectually with time and are now beginning to realize that you can only come out of your ghetto when you release your brain from the chains of your fantasies and supposed place in the world. The question is are the hindus significantly better off in relation to the muslims of India? Considering about 80% of India is Hindu, we obviously will find the figures skewed in their favor. The newer generation bonds well and especially in a cosmopolitan place like Mumbai it is difficult to find too much of bias and segregation.
The criminal links of Muslims is another reason why people would not want a muslim as a neighbour. Mumbai has had a predominantly muslim underworld in the past. One of their bosses is sitting pretty in your country from ages. If you look at the world around, major stress and problem has become associated with the world Muslim. It definitely plays on the minds of other people. There is never any easy way out of being tagged.
I am posting one video which will give you an idea about how a young muslim girl from India who has chosen to be an actor thinks and also this issue of vegetarianism is disccused here. (watch from 1.35)
