Hello, world.

Hello, please allow me to introduce myself.

I'm an American, from Texas to be specific. I picked my username because I'm a student at University, and my star sign is Aries.

I'm majoring in Computer Science, although I'm really struggling with Calculus. Integrals in particular are giving me a lot of trouble.

So, you might be wondering why I've joined a forum that discusses the political situation in Pakistan. Well, Pakistan in particular seems like a very interesting country because a lot of people there speak English, they recently joined CERN, and they've been a US ally for a long time. I know that the attitudes of people in other countries towards the US are not always positive, and I'm prepared to take some flak over that. I'm definitely interested in learning about different perspectives from what I usually hear in mainstream media.

It seems like there are a lot of intelligent people in your country, and I'm particularly impressed by the advances you're making in STEM fields, so I may spend a lot of my time in the Science and Technology forums. I really value education and knowledge.

Anyway, hopefully my presence here won't be too intrusive or controversial. I don't like to offend or upset people, and I strive to be respectful of others.

Welcome to the forum, Let us know you ethnicity, you have Pakistani background or just a random american white guy? Not be rude, this is not a place where you can witness Pakistani brilliance or talent, This is a political forum what interests you here? How do we know you are not CIA or someone like from CENTCOM US State dept. who are already present and working to make american perception better on this forum.

We are a very friendly nation you are still very welcome.

LOL, it appears that everyone got my Programming reference.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone.

Well, mubashirrao, to answer your questions. I am definitely a White American. My aunt traced my ancestry and found English, Scottish, Irish, and German. So I'm probably about as Anglo-Saxon as you can get. I suppose you don't know if I'm a spy, but I actually get that a lot. People have asked me here in the US whether I'm a Russian spy, so I guess I just give off that vibe. I guess being intelligent, polite, and quiet freaks people out a little? LOL.

I want to observe politics in order to learn about how people see things in that part of the world. I hear a lot of negative things on the news about countries that we're at war with, but I don't hear a lot of the positive news about countries like Pakistan unless I specifically seek it out. I mean, I'm also somewhat interested in the politics of former British colonies in general, because they all seem to have a conflicted sense of identity.

Do I want Pakistan to have positive views of Americans? Well, yeah, of course... I'm an American, and I certainly prefer being liked to being disliked. It wouldn't bother me at all for Pakistan to become a friendlier place for technology companies to do business, and the kind of political policies I would personally favor might arguably benefit companies like Microsoft, AT&T, or Apple if they wanted to do business in your country. I'm not planning to push those views on people, but if my opinion is asked, it will likely be very pro-business and pro-trade. I think strong economies are important for all countries.

We're from the South, and it was hard to find opportunities out in Georgia and Alabama so my family moved to Texas. Everyone's moving to Texas because that's where the jobs are.

Welcome to the forum. Today was a very busy day to join the forum due to by-election in Pakistan so you may not hear as much response.

Anyhow, look forward to hear from you.
