Happy birthday Abbasi Ali Bhai. May Allah(SWT) shower his blessings upon you and your family and you have a long healthy life. Please ignore xpakistani's comments. I think he is high on cocaine.

For xpakistani:

None of the Prophets or companions ever drove a car
None of the Prophets or companions ever used a mobile phone
None of the Prophets or companions ever used the Internet
None of the Prophets or companions ever used a computer

Please start riding a camel/horse and stop using computer and mobile phone from today. You are right. These are all innovations.

The evidence in the Quraan and Sunnah indicates that celebrating birthdays is a kind of bidah or innovation in religion, which has no basis in the pure shareeah. It is not permitted to accept invitations to birthday celebrations, because this involves supporting and encouraging bidah. Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed? [al-Shoora 42:21]

Then We have put you (O Muhammad) on a plain way of (Our) commandment. So follow that, and follow not the desires of those who know not. Verily, they can avail you nothing against Allaah (if He wants to puish you). Verily, the zaalimoon (wrongdoers) are awliyaa (protectors, helpers, etc.) to one another, but Allaah is the Wali (Protector, Helper) of the muttaqoon (pious). [al-Jaathiyah 45:18-19]

Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow not any awliyaa (protectors, helpers, etc.) besides Him. Little do you remember! [al-Araaf 7:3]

According to saheeh reports, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever does something that is a not part of this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) will have it rejected (reported by Muslim in his Saheeh); and The best of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The most evil of things are those which have been newly invented (in religion), and every innovation is a going astray. There are many other ahaadeeth that convey the same meaning.

Besides being bidah and having no basis in shareeah, these birthday celebrations also involve imitation of the Jews and Christians in their birthday celebrations. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, warning us against following their ways and traditions: You would follow the ways of those who came before you step by step, to such an extent that if they were to enter a lizards hole, you would enter it too. They said, O Messenger of Allaah, (do you mean) the Jews and Christians? He said, Who else? (Reported by al-Bukhaari and Muslim). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said: Whoever imitates a people is one of them.

Allah Almighty knows best.

@dukelondon car, mobile phone, internet, computer and all these things are scientific/worldly innovations and not The Innovations in Deen...You should know that we are allowed to get benefits of worldly innovations if they do not contradict our deen's basic principles.....

As far as Deen e Islam is concerned we should know that Our Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)'s responsibility was to complete the deen and he was not responsible to complete the worldly matters.

Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow not any awliyaa (protectors, helpers, etc.) besides Him. Little do you remember! [al-Araaf 7:3]

Now we are not allowed to innovate thing in the matter of this deen.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever does something that is a not part of this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) will have it rejected (reported by Muslim in his Saheeh);

I think you should better understand the purpose and targets of Nubowwah and then differentiate between the matters of deen and matters of this world... mixing both would result in what you have said earlier.

It is not wise to say that if Car is allowed then innovating 6th prayer beside 5 regular prayers should be allowed.... if internet is allowed then innovating one more sajdah and making 3 sojood instead of 2 sojood in salat should be allowed... if mobile is allowed then innovating one more rukoo and making 2 rukoo instead of just one rukoo in each rakat should be allowed....My brother innovation in deen is different and innovation of this world are different. Dont mix them up.....

And just how is being happy on one's birthday against Islam? How exactly is celebrating a birthday related to religion??? Can you please explain. Which Ayat of the Quran or Hadees of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) prohibits being happy or celebrating one's birthday with loved ones.
