STATEMENT ISSUED BY DR ARIF ALVI, SECRETARY GENERAL PAKISTAN TEHREEK E INSAF ON THE RESIGNATION OF DR. SHIREEN MAZARI​

It is with regret that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has learnt about the resignation of Dr. Shireen Mazari. She was a respected member of the party and had representation on its highest forums. However, it is incumbent upon all party members to observe discipline. Sadly, Dr Mazari chose not to do so by going public about her grievances during Mr. Imran Khan’s visit to the flood affected areas of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. Since this was against the code of conduct that governs party members, she was issued a show cause notice and asked to reply within seven days. (Copy attached) Dr. Mazari did not reply to this and has chosen to resign from the party. Brief fact behind Dr Mazari’s resignation are that during a visit to the rain affected areas, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Mr. Imran Khan was scheduled to visit Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. However, his flight from Islamabad to DG Khan got delayed by three hours due to rain with the result that he could not visit Rajanpur. Dr Mazari knew about the circumstances but still chose to publicly criticise the party and its leadership. This was unacceptable but the party did not immediately suspend her or terminate her membership. Instead as per party rules and the norms of any democratic organization, she was asked to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against her. She chose not reply and has instead widened her scope of attack on the party while resigning. This is indeed sad and uncalled for. As a democratic party, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf respects the views of all its members and everyone has a right to state them unequivocally and forcefully at party forums. At the same time, parties cannot function if every disagreement within it is made public. Every member of the party has to observe some basic norms of membership without which no organization can function. Sadly, Dr. Mazari did not accept this obligation. Political parties are voluntary organizations and everyone has a right to join them or leave. She has decided to leave. This is her prerogative and PTI respects it while completely rejecting all the uncalled for allegations made by her.

Guys, again i will emphasize lets dont comment on this. She was good, best of luck and lets focus on IK's vision. We will prove IK right and these people will come back again. This is very critical time for IK we should support him as much we can and in every way. He is our leader and we trust him.

you are absolutely right..by the time of election PTI will be the worst party in pakistan and result will be the same.. I feel sorry for IK. IK won't win more than 5 seats in this elections ... write my word on the all..

PTI will be better off. Personally I do not think she was a big asset to the party. She was a big disappointment in talk shows.

May also be true that other parties or the US thru slave PPP govt have infiltrated into party causing unrest because of IKs clear stance against the drone and severing from Americas war for terror.

An honest and patriotic leader of Pakistan CAN BE a digestion problem for the US, because they want a SLAVE

A great loss for PTI. Looks like by the time we reach elections all the older cadre of PTI will be wiped out (bigsmile). Its amusing to see the tall claims of PTI members about the dynamics of a proper political party when on the next breath they are declaring that they are voting for Imran (not PTI). Long live the Bani Gala revolution.


By the way since there is no elected body within PTI at the moment on whose authority was the show cause notice send?

I respect her decision nobody has the right to criticise her for that but my concern is only about the reason she has used as an excuse because it is directly hitting a party and its trust

she joined PTI in 2009, and this year all the way she was defaming PTI.

So basically she has worked for PTI just for 3 years.....in opposition..........other parties have people who worked there for more than 40 years and have left and joined PTI,

we still consider her leaving as a loss, what else do you want?
