I think children should be taught information of religion but mainly from the quran and from authentic ahadith. They should then be taught how to be rational and make sense of the given religious information in light of the knowledge of the real world and logic.
If we do not follow this line of education then we are actually producing brain dead kids like robots and that is not islam. Islam is not about mere ritualism but a revolutionary concept for creating a better world by establishinbg it as the world order. Kids that have no idea what that concept is not going to be of much help. The ideology the elders follow in any society, one should always look at the result of that because kids will mosly follow their elders.
So these kids can only bring us hope if their elder have done that but if they are seen to be a failure then kids are going to be yet worse failure. It is because next generation can only be better or worse but not exactly the same.
The rule of Allah is cause and effect, duniya aakhirat ki khaiti hai or you reap what you sow. There are no miracle cures for human problems according to the quran rather people must act for whatever they wish for to make it happen. A nation that does not change itself for the better will never changed for the better. Allah only helps those who help themselves. A person or nation's destiny is in its own hands.
Let us pray that these kids are raised as they ought to.
