Again, read the ayah of Quran where Allah orders us to follow them and also said you'll be successful if you do.

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَـٰنٍۢ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhājireen and the Anṣār and those who followed them with good conduct - - Allāh is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. (Quran 9:100)

Again how does this even remotely even hint at following the sahaba. There were sooooooooo many sahabis that were not Muhajrun or Ansar what about them then eh?

“Yahya related to me from Malik from his paternal uncle Abu Suhayl ibn Malik that his uncle's father said, ‘I recognise nothing nowadays of what I saw the people (i.e. the companions of the Messenger ﷺ) doing except the call to prayer (adhān).’”

So this account shows that the people are not following Islam anything like the sahabis were? So whatever you are practicing is not from the sahabis even your own hadith is saying that.
