on one level you are right, but if you look at the bigger pictures, in the absence of that reserve, the Indian Rupee would tank and then it would be like Pakistan, prices rocketing out of control. No money to pay for oil. The economic activities would go downwards, more pressure on rupees if Exports are hit, which would be, due to doubling of the prices for Petrol and diesel due to weakening of the Rupee.
This is what is happening in Pakistan at the moment. Plus Pakistani corrupt politically backed thugs are more interested to take illegal routes for exports and imports.
Everyone knows, the sugar, fruit and veg and other goods cross to Afghanistan from Pakistan, under the patronage of corrupt Pakistan Army and other agencies personnel. Which makes it more dearer in Pakistan.
Secondly, the illegal smuggling doesn't bring the dollars in Pakistan legally in to State Bank, it rather goes directly in to foreign banks via money laundering.
Same goes for oil imports from Iran.
Even Asim thug knows that PA is directly involved in the smuggling, but cannot say it , cannot do anything.
Fuck that system.
