Pakistan as a secular state with Muslim majority and minorities thriving without fear of blasphemy or conversions, would have really made it a role model Muslim state. You would not have needed a nuclear bum either, because India would have looked too small in comparison.

The Idea of an islamic welfare state is beautiful , wonderful and perfect but a dream. An islamic state should have all the laws compliant to shariah , and how many of us can say that Islamic shariah can be fully implemented under any government in pakistan especially after the rise of so-called liberals in pakistan who can not bear the sight of any bearded guy or anyone who utters a word of arabic even Alhamdu Lillah. Our banking is based on interest and no one has talked about how to convert our banking system to an islamic banking system , not even Imran Khan. Are the punishments in our law even resemble with the shariah punishment? Is there any evidence of taxing system in islam? ( not jizya or kharaj or whatever) and we are banking our economy on the receival of taxes. So what is there really islamic about our country? Yes , we listen to Adhan five times a day and yet the masjids are empty (apart from the jumah prayer ofcourse). Hardly anyone bothers to leave their business and go to masjid. Yet ,the state religion is islam and the premier seats of all the institutions must be muslims. Unless the whole system is a reflection of shariah , the islamic state thing is not even symbolic. I know once the mullah and most of us simple pakistanis hear about secular thingy , we are disgusted and furious and rightly so. The country was founded in the name of Islam , te only country in the world which is based on islam. So theoratically , Pakistan must be the beacon for all the islamic states but are we?

تو یہ بحث بے کار ہے کہ پاکستان میں سیکولر نظام ناکام ہے کیونکہ پیپلز پارٹی کی لبرل حکومت نے کچھ نہیں کیا۔ ایسے دیکھا جائے تو ضیاء کی اسلامی حکومت نے بھی کچھ نہیں کیا۔

اور مسلم لیگ کی حکومت جو اسلامی جمہوری اتحاد کے تحت بنی کیا وہ لبرل اور اسلامی کے درمیان کی چیز تھی یا پھر خود مذہبی تھی؟

بہرحال، یہ تمام کی تمام حکومتیں پاکستان میں ناکام ہیں کیونکہ بنیادی وجہ "نظام" نہیں ہے بلکہ کرپشن ہے اور اداروں کی غیر استحکامی ہے۔

یورپ و امریکہ کے نظام کے متعلق ایسے ہی نہیں کہا جاتا کہ وہ صرف خدا کو نہیں مانتے مگر انکا نظام بالکل اسلام کے اصولوں کے عین مطابق ہے۔

Ataturk's idea of secularism or Altaf's idea of secularism?

I am pro-modernity and pro-liberalism or whatever term you want to use in which extreme religious proselytizing and religiosity will not be the character of a state.

With that said, the secularism that MQM promotes is very ugly and not conducive in bringing change for Pakistan.

I think we need to not focus on religion vs. secularism, rather, what model does MQM have for us with it's own version of secularism?

Have they given us anything different than the violent extremists that have apparently "left them with no choice" to tweet the idea?

To defeat MQM and free ourselves from their grip, you need to play in your court and not theirs.

This entire debate had the focus on a different debate and people were not attacking MQM. That shouldn't be your goal ;)

Pakistan jab tak "islami" rahe ga .... Islam ko misuse bhi karta rahe ga, Islam ko budnaam bhi karta rahe ga. Basically Pakistani "Islam" is a new type of Munafiqat. It is to go unfair and even dishonest in favour of this "Islam".

Pakiastani Islam has nothing to do with actual Islam of Quran. Pakistani Islam means dominant view points among Mullah circles. Those view points may or may not be in accordance with Quran. But as I said, this is also a new type of Munafiqat ... So No one of those dishonest/Munafiq ppl will accept that it is not according to teachings of Quran. They will support their opinion even dishonestly.

So it is pious idea that Pakistan may be declared to be a Secular State.

If I had the govt with absolute majority, I would seriously consider laying murder charges against heads of coalition partners, Zardari, PM, heads of ANP, MQM, PML-Q, and of course PPP. I would also include provincial heads of the coalition parties and their CM, governors, and minister of interior. But the

prime suspect would be

Rehman Malik.

Because he could have stopped these murders and all responsibility rests on him. He has not done an iota about target killing and terrorism except gives Pakistanis soother, lies, false promises.

I would pass a bill that a Pakistani, if committed a crime in Pakistan (specially murder, corruption, ghaddari etc), could be tried in Pakistan in absentia. They can retain a lawyer and pay with the money they have looted or otherwise ill-obtained. And if not, then the court would assign an attorney to their defense. but a criminal must be tried whether he is basking in sun on the coast of Spain or playing Russian Roulette in Las Vegas. That would take care of all the mafroors. This is a total bull sh it that one can commit crime and hide under protection of the white countries.

Please explain what is wrong in being secular, as it does not clash with being religious. It allows all to practice the religion, sect they want. The business of state is run without involvement of any beliefs which may be a good middle ground for all. It helps to avoid some one declaring the other KAFIR etc. If some girl want to go our like in the west, he should be free who does not like to see her may avoid to look at her but why to impose on her that she should wear something she does not want to??? No outbursts pls, only simple and cool logic may be used to comment. By the way God made the world SECULAR!!!!! Is my understanding Correct??????
