Majority of Karachiites are not used to give votes to other than MQM.
Even in operation days, when Army was not only on the streets of Karachi, but also on polling station inside and outside.
MQM won that election with big margin as usual.

A prayer meeting was held at Lal Qila Ground Azizabad in memory of the MQM workers, sympathisers, and citizens killed in various incidents of terrorism in Karachi. The meeting was held on Sunday the 24[SUP]TH[/SUP] JULY. Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani and members Kunwar Khalid Yunus, Wasay Jalil, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Raza Haroon, Mustafa Kamal, Ms Mumtaz Anwer, Touseef Khanzada, Saleem Tajik, Naik Muhammad, Dr Nusrat, Ashfaq Mangi and senior leader Aamir Khan were present on the occasion.
The meeting expressed sympathies with the bereaved family members who had lost their loved ones in the incidents of terrorism. Special prayers were offered for the restoration of a durable peace in Karachi and elimination of terrorism that has gripped the city.
Addressing the meeting Deputy Convener Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani strongly condemned the incidents of unrestrained terrorism in the city and the killing of innocent MQM workers, sympathisers and citizens. Mr Qaimkhani expressed his grief and sorrow over senseless the senseless killings of innocent people by armed terrorists.
Mr Qaimkhani said that certain powers wanted to capture the city of Karachi with the power of guns. He said that the workers of the MQM had neither yielded to the brute force in the past and they would not bow down today as well. He said that the MQM workers would struggle in the face of inopportune circumstances and frustrate the conspiracies to spoil the peace of the city.

In 1993 General elections held in Pakistan, MQM boycotted the National Assembly elections as the Agencies not allowing MQM to contest on many seats of Karachi, So it was the chance for Jamat e Islami to show their strength and power in Karachi,
Qazi Hussain Ahmed the then Ameer of Jamat e Islami and Munawwar Hassan the current Ameer of Jamat e Islami took part in Elections from Karachi and both Contested for the National Assembly Seats.
This was the time when the Brave People of Karachi shows their Loyalty to MQM and Altaf Hussain and Spit on the Munafiq face of Jamat e Ismai.
Here is what both of them get from Karachi
Qazi Hussain contested from NA-191 and got 8,452 votes and Lost.
Munawwar Hassan contested from NA-193 and got only 8,550 votes and lost as well.
The percentage of votes they got from their constituencies are merely 2-3% votes, mind it no MQM in the field, Army on the streets of Karachi doing operation against MQM on the charges of Jinnah Pur and Jamati Munafiqs lost the elections and their Ameer and Secretary General both got only 2-3 % votes.
So the people who blame MQM especially outsiders who don’t live in Karachi, can tell us why people rejected the Jamat e Islami and didn’t vote for them when there was no rigging and no MQM contesting the Elections?
They're used to make their plan fail, in operation days.
Like they've been doing with PPP.
They own that,
that's why they gave Karachi the look,
which other can't give to there constituencies in 62 years.
That's why they have so much pain, why MQM is not following there footsteps.
