You are wrong here. They blame Nasirullah Babar who was Benazir's interior minister. Just ask someone from MQM about the retired general.
Though the police committed a lot of excesses during that operation.

I am from Lahore, but have relatives in Karachi. I remember that before the operation was launched, several areas in Karachi had become virtually no go areas. My relatives had to migrate from Karachi to save their lives. Sectarian killings were also very common. However, I do not condone excesses committed by the security forces in the name of operation against miscreants.

Again, your knowledge of history is flawed. If NS had indeed removed the menace of MQM in 1992, how did they manage to wreak havoc in Karachi from 1993 on wards? It was Benazir who had launched a ruthless operation against MQM. Watch how she clearly labels MQM as a militant and terrorist party. You can attribute whatever you like to NS. However, it is based on your loyalty with him and not grounded in facts.

Funny how you keep avoiding NS's blatant hypocrisy on this issue.

Well, Karachi has been suffering since 1984. MQM has played its part and then everyone has put in their share. That includes the military establishment, the nincompoop and corrupt political leadership, the idiotic and murderous sectarian leaders, the bureaucracy, ineffective and corrupt police and judiciary...basically everyone has contributed to the downward spiral.

I remember the first wave of migration happened after the events of mid 80s. Then of course the 90s were even worse because of split within MQM.

NS had sent Ishaq Dar to 90 in order to gain support for Mamnoon Hussain's election. While in 2007, he had presided over a conference and declared that no party shall maintain any contacts with MQM.

I hope you know that the ONLY operation MQM still cries about was launched in PMLns time...PMLn does not allow terrorism...they have launched opps against Taliban Khanz-eeeer and I hope soon they will turn their attention to this biggest terrorist outfit in the world

KARACHI/LONDON: Leader and founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain is reportedly annoyed with his party leadership. He has convened MQM workers Wednesday evening to announce some important decisions.

At times when Im already worried and grieved over present critical situation of the country, the irresponsible and opportunistic attitude of some key party leaders has also annoyed me, the MQM chief said in a statement from London where he has been living in self-exile for the past 20 years.

According to a statement, Altaf Hussain has called sector members and workers at 6pm at party headquarters, Nine Zero, where he will elaborate on the situation.

Sources said the MQM leader is likely to make some important announcements regarding his party leadership. - SAMAA
