O bhai!! Mein tasleem krta hun k aap se zyada jamhooriat ki afadiat ko koi nai samajta hoga. But, if you want the western style democracy, then you should take a look at the literacy rate of those countries. Most of them have more than 95% even 100 or 99%. First, you have to give them enough sense so that they can decide what is wrong and what is right. I dont say k martial law or army rule is the solution. Wo to asmaan se gir k khajoor mein ataknay wali baat ha.
And then the question is, what's the solution. And this definitely is a tough question.
My Dear dont take it personally, the countries that you mentioned do have a very high level of literacy.........but in 1215 when the first democratic rights were given to the British their literacy rate was much worse then us. You dont need degrees to know your rights and duties. What was teh American literact rate in 1619 when theri first elected representatives were elected.
Also there are many countries in which democratic system is going forward (not perfectly, but at least they do not have goose stepping morons coming in after every 5-10 years) that do have much less litearcy rates.
Awareness is different from education. I live abroad in one of the countries that you have mentioned and believe me peopel here might be more educated but their political awareness is not much better than ours. The only difference is that at a given time when they did have that awareness they created a sound system that is still working.
If you can come up with any other system in which there some kind of parity and equality, then I will agree with you.

There is no such thing as western style democracy, democracy is democracy period with a right to vote and right to run for the office for every citizen as simple as that. When US became a democratic country literacy rate was very poor it took over two hundred years for institutions to evolve. It will take long time to transform Ullu to an Eagle if you remain democratic if not, there is no transformation. Having a good constitution is the key and its the duty of every citizen to uphold it.
It all depends on people like yourself to engage in the process by participating, or forming, political parties whose ideas are as close to yours, contributing with your ideas and making donations to parties and campaigning as volunteer on behalf of good candidates, without expecting personal gains, selected by you. When you do this a lot of ullus will become smart.

This is the actual problem.Even our litrate(So called)people do not under stand what secularism means.It does neither stops any one from going to a place of worship nor compels any one to adopt any version of faith.Secular Govt: manages for the betterment of its citizens.
Who told u that secularism means permission of all these filthy thing u described.It is a mind set to call every one kafir/minority who does not agree with your views.
Note one thing and tell your children and their children that survival of Pakistan is in only and only to become a secular country otherwise soon it will perish from the world map.

State can be still secular if the constitution accepted by vote with 66 percent or more voters that Forbids and punishes:
Gays and lesbians
Punishing for free sex and death for bas tards
Forbids ban on mosque or minars and hijab
Forbids and punishes for drawing Muhammd SAW
Other countries may not agree with your constitution but no one can say its not democratic.
In Switzerland ban imposed on Minars will likely stricken down by the courts as it interfere with individual's right to build.

I would again disagree respectfully with Alama Iqbal. He used the word changhaize ( actions of changhaize Kahn). If you ask a Mongolian and other tribes who supported him will tell you that deen was a very much part of his actions as his deen was drawn from shamanism. His deen was very much part of his siasat. He never slept in a house or a tent whose door did not faced south, part of his deen.
An Individual who is pious, just, and educated his/her traits will play a part in anything he/she does AUTOMATICALLY weather he/she is shop keeper, merchant, policeman, bureaucrat, soldier prime minister or president.
