There is not politics of any ideology. All for getting power.
PML-N is responsible for creating all this mess. They have made it easy for PPP to win elections.
I am not satisfied with the role of TV chanels towards AJK elections.
Politicians from AJK must be invited in talk shows.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections: ML, JI enter into electoral alliance
By Roshan Mughal
Published: June 3, 2011

MUZAFFARABAD:
The Muslim League and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) have entered into an electoral alliance for the June 26 elections for Azad kashmir Legislative Assembly. The alliance with JI is on common agenda including stepping up of Kashmir liberation movement, exposing Indian repression and provision of good governance in AJK, Muslim League AJK chief and former Prime Minuister Raja Farooq Haider Khan announced this at a news conference held at the Jamaat-i-Islami office on Thursday.
He said that an Islamic welfare society will be set up in AJK to provide even development and justice opportunities to the people of state, while resources will be developed to allow the region to be economically self-reliant.
Khan said that ML and JI would field joint candidates in Dheer Kot constituency against Prime Minister Attique Ahmed Khan. He urged the election commission to correct electoral rolls, extend the date for polls to July 9, a proposition rejected by the election commission on grounds that the EC staff will not be available after June 30.
Khan alleged that the federal government has not been projecting human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir and has not been fulfilling its responsibilities regarding Kashmir liberation movement.
Pakistan has been a party to dispute and it had signed United Nations Resolution on Kashmir.
Being a member of the world body it must play its role and stop the killings of innocent civilians in Kashmir, he said.
He alleged that the federal government has been planning to rig the June 26 elections and warned that the results will not be accepted if proven so.
He also alleged that the federal government plundered around Rs55 billion donated by international community for the earthquake survivors of AJK, leaving numerous reconstruction projects in jeopardy.
Speaking on the occasion Jamaat-i-Islami AJK chief Abdul Rasheed Turrabi said, It is need of the hour that ideological parties come forward and make alliance to serve as harbingers for change at this crucial juncture of Pakistans history.

AJK politics: PML-Q backs Kashmir alliance
Published: May 23, 2011

LAHORE:
The Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) has assured the Muslim Conference of Azad Jammu and Kashmir of its support for an alliance between the Conference and the Pakistan Peoples Party against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the next general election, The Express Tribune has learnt.
The next general election in the AJK is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2011. The last date for submission of nomination papers in May 26, 2011.
The assurance was given by PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attiq Ahmed, leader of the Muslim Conference, during a meeting at Hussains Lahore residence on Sunday, according to the PML-Q media cell.
Shujaat assured Attiq that the PML-Q had no plans to register itself as a political party in the AJK. He said his family had old ties with the Muslim Conference and would never want to contest elections against it.
Three political parties are registered with the election commission in the AJK the PPP, the PML-N and the Muslim Conference. Sardar Attiq is leading the Muslim Conference, former prime ministers Raja Farooq Haider the PML-N and Barrister Sultan Mehmood the PPP.
The PPP had earlier split into two factions but these were merged following Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillanis recent address at a public meeting. Farooq Haider was earlier a member of the Muslim Conference. He recently joined the PML-N after a rift with the leadership.
Sources in the PML-Q said that because the party was not registered in AJK, the leadership had decided to support the PPP, its ally in the centre, and the Muslim Conference to ensure that the PML-N could not come to power in AJK assembly. They said the PML-Q leaders assured Attiq that their voters would support the conference-PPP alliance in the next general elections. They said meetings would soon be held between the PML-Q leadership, Sardar Attiq and President Asif Ali Zardari to further discuss formation of the alliance.

AJK elections: KLP jumps into fray
Published: May 30, 2011

ISLAMABAD:
Kashmir Labour Party (KLP) will take part in the forthcoming general election of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly scheduled for June 26, said a press release of the party here on Sunday.
The 49-seat semi-autonomous house has a power to elect its own prime minister and president, however it is the Federal Ministry of Kashmir Affairs that calls all the shots and wields all the powers.
Of the total members, 41 are elected directly, 12 are elected from different parts of Pakistan by the immigrant Kashmiris and eight sent to the house on special reserved seats. The 12 immigrant Kashmir members play a decisive role in the election of the prime minster and president.
In these circumstances, Labour Party Pakistan decided not to be a silent spectator and let the rulers bulldoze the fundamental economic, political and social rights of Kashmiri people, said the Labour Party Pakistan (LPP) General Secretary Tariq Farooq.
The formation of Kashmir Labour Party is reflection of LPPs ideological stand on the issue of national question. We stand for the right of self-determination of Kashmiri people and for an independent Kashmir, free from both Pakistan and Indian ruling clique. That is why KLP is an independent body and not a wing of LPP in Kashmir, he said.
LPP always supported the right of self-determination of Kashmiris and considered Kashmir as an independent national state. LPP decided to support and strengthen its sister organization with the spirit of internationalism, he added.
KLP contested the 2006 elections from one constituency and got around 2.5 per cent votes. Now after five years of struggle in building the party, we are putting up four candidates, all of them lawyers, said the LPP General Secretary, Farooq. They are: Raja Sarfraz Khan from LA-20, Poonch 4; Raja Bashrat Khan from LA-14, Bagh 2; Choudhry Mumtaz Ahmed from LA-15, Bagh 3; Nisar Shah from LA-35, Jammu 6. All of them are young, energetic, practicing lawyers under 40 and in the start of their political carrier. They vowed to promote progressive and democratic political thinking and culture in the region.
In a region, which is considered to be a bastion of Jihadi outfits and religious extremist elements, the KLP wants to offer socialistic programme as an alternative to the poverty-ridden people, said one of the candidates while talking to The Express Tribune, seeking help and vote from the progressive and peace-loving people of Kashmir.
Our main strategy during the election campaign will be to expose the menace of fundamentalism and obscurantism. A decent vote for KLP will lay down the basis for a stronger socialist movement in Kashmir that can strengthen liberation movement and weaken the fanatics, he added.
Meanwhile Workers Party Pakistan, Awami Party Pakistan and other left wing and progressive organisations have expressed solidarity with the KLP and extended their support to the candidates.

AJK Elections: MQM to field candidates in every constituency
By Qamar Zaman
Published: May 20, 2011

ISLAMABAD:
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday announced to nominate its candidates from every constituency of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) in the upcoming elections.
“The MQM stands by the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination and legitimate rights,” said federal minister and deputy convener of coordination committee Dr Farooq Sattar while revealing the party’s manifesto for AJK at a press conference.
“The MQM demands that the decision about the future of Kashmir should be made keeping in view the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he added.
Detailing his party’s policy regarding the selection of its candidates, Sattar said that “merit would be the criterion for awarding party tickets,” and a cell has been set up to scrutinize the applications.
Sattar said his party’s manifesto, among other things, includes a package for the people affected by Mangla Dam for getting their rightful share in royalties for the electricity generated from the dam.
