There is another side to this entire "Tax Chor" Saga that is going on. The Tax collection system is messed up in Pakistan. Do you all know how to even Pay taxes in Pakistan? What forms to fill? How to fill? What assets to declare and what not? How to get tax relief and returns? Not many people even know this. The Tax Collection system is not accessible. Some people are just deemed "Tax Chor" because they didn't know how to even pay the Tax in the first place.

When I was in the US, I just used to pay my Taxes online. When I am in Pakistan, I dunno where or how to go about even doing this.

If you lived in USA then you should also know that in any country payment of income tax is duty of its citizens.
Its not an acceptable excuse that it was difficult to pay.

If you lived in USA then you should also know that in any country payment of income tax is duty of its citizens.

Well actually it is perfectly acceptable in the US to say that you cannot possibly pay the Tax you owe. What happens is they give you grave periods and if that doesn't work they give you a payment plan. The trouble happens when you CAN pay and you are found not paying. But the US IRS is something thats way beyond Pakistan's standards. When they ask for money they will make a case for it. There is very little money in the US you can move around without anyone knowing. Infact I remember we were told that if the IRS asks $100, pay them $200. It is not worth getting on their bad books. lol.

It's good that I never earned a single rupee from Pakistan. Perhaps this is why I am unaware of Pakistani Tax laws. Just that its surrounded in some ambiguity which for the love of God I can't decipher.

Income earned in foreign country is paid after deducting taxes.
Therefore it cannot be deducted in the another country.
If he pays taxes in pakistan also then he will be double taxed and that is against the taxation laws.

But yes ibrar ul haq is liable to pay taxes for income made in pakistan only.

Moreover various middle eastern countries are tax free countries and residents of that country arent liable to pay taxes for the income earned in those countries. for example bahrain, qatar etc.

So if taxes were deducted for ibrar ul haq concerts in foreign countries he is not liable to pay taxes on it in pakistan. its against all taxation laws in the world.

Basic rule is people should not be double taxed.

when someone pays charity that portion of income is also not considered a part of income and as a result one can fall in lower tax bracket.

Ibrar has Sahara for life trust and he makes charity to it also. depending on amount he gives to sahara he may not be in high tax brackets anyways. now that depends on income earned in pakistan and what portion of it he gives to charity.

Ibrar made Sahara after becoming a music success. FBR is saying that he NEVER paid any taxes, he has no national tax number (NTN). The first time he pays tax he will get a NTN.
