Ka'ba is named Baitullah by Quran and Rasul (S.A.W). Allah has chosen this word for it. Being Muslim we believe in it, and use same terminology.
Also Quran says "Fawallu wajhaka shatr al Masjid al haraam" that means to face toward masjid al Haram. before that Muslims used to face Masjid al Aqsa(Qibla e Awal)
Ka'ba is inside masjid ul haram, and Qibla is isme Zarf e Makan e Nakra defined for Muslims for Ka'ba. (Ka'batu qiblati). Masjid e Aqsa was Qibla e Awwal.
some other religion may have another Qibla as they define.
it is uncommon to know detailed definitions for such common words, but is good to know if you want.

All praises be to Allah who is all knowing and the creater of everything that is in our knowledge and beyond our knowledge.

The greatest mysteries of life are still waiting to be uncovered while we are growing technologically and our vision is growing. Allah knows the very mix that creates a human being, what goes in our mind and what can benefit us the most. Here are the rationales behind keeping Kaba as the one and only place to which we turn to when performing salat.

1- To provide one and only direction to the whole ummat and to tell them the lesson that no matter where they are the relationship of Tauheed binds them together.
"Aik hai sab ka khuda, Aik he rasool aur Quran bhi Aik
Kuch bari baat thee jo hatay musalman bhi aik".

2- Modern science has proved that when many people in a society focus on the same thing then things tend to turn their way. The focus, concentration and unidirectional attitue of people in a group make their effort more useful. This is the wisdom that becomes evident by these new scientific findings. No matter where the muslims are they focus their attention in one direction, they perform the salat in the exact same manner, they turn their attention to the one Almighty and we they ask all want some thing similar this focus helps them to share their synergies. Who else would know all that except for the one who has actually created us.

As we grow, learn and understand more and study Islam unbiased we will understand the divinity of the Deen and wisdom of its practices.

Qibla (Arabic: ?????, also transliterated as Kibla) is an Arabic word for the direction that should be faced. When a Muslim prays during Salah they must all turn to face one single direction.
This qiblah is the direction of the Ka'aba in Mecca, in modern-day Saudi Arabia.
Originally, the direction of the Qibla was toward the Noble Sanctuary (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem (and it is therefore called the First of the Two Qiblahs).Seventeen months after Muhammad's (SAW) 622 CE arrival in Medina, the Qibla became oriented towards the Ka'aba in Mecca. According to accounts from the prophet Muhammad's (SAW) companions, the change happened very suddenly during the noon prayer in Medina, in a mosque now known as Masjid al-Qiblatain (Mosque of the Two Qiblahs). Muhammad (SAW) was leading the prayer when he (SAW) received revelations from Allah instructing him (SAW) to take the Kaba as the Qiblah (literally, "turn your face towards the Masjid al Haram").According to the historical accounts, Muhammad (SAW), who had been facing Jerusalem, upon receiving this revelation, immediately turned around to face Mecca, and those praying behind him(SAW) also did so.
If at anytime the structure of the Kaaba is destroyed then too, it will be compulsory to perform salaat facing the direction of the Ka'aba . Therefore, we can say without a shadow of doubt that Muslims do not worship its stone structure, otherwise by its destruction Salaat would immediately come to a temporary stop.
The Qibla, for any point of reference on the Earth, is the direction of the Kaba.Muslims do not worship the Ka'aba. The Ka'aba is a capital and focal point of the entire Muslim world.

The Ka'aba is A Symbol of Unity .

Why do we face toward the Ka'aba in particular and not any other selected direction?

No one has the right to ask such a question. However, Allah Ta'ala is omniscient and He alone knows toward which direction His Noor (light) descends. Whichever direction this light is greatest, we are directed to face.

"And now verily We shall make you turn (in prayer) toward a Qibla which is dear to you. So turn your face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship (the Kaaba of Makkah)." (Al Baqarah 2:144)

The Quran commands the Muslims to face the sacred precincts in Makkah during prayer which is a fundamental tenet in Islam. The legend of this purely Islamic development of a sacred stone structure dates back to the fall of Hadhrat Adam (alayhis salaam) from Paradise onto earth at Makkah. It has been reported by Al-tabari that Hadhrat Jibraeel (alayhis salaam) flapped his wings to uncover a foundation laid in the seventh fold of the earth. Angels paved this foundation with stones and Hazrat Adam went round this structure following the example of the Angels. Therefore it stands to reason that Allah Ta'ala contemplated and designated the Ka'aba before the creation of the earth. It is said that the Kaaba is a prototype of Baitul Mamoor, a house in the seventh Heaven situated immediately over the Ka'aba.

Everybody has given you good answers. Just wan to add this.

I saw a video some time ago that Ka'aba is physically on the CENTRE of the earth. Therefore for the entire Ummah it makes lotta sense to face the Ka'aba and pray.

Imagine, 100 muslims from each country, from Indonesia to Canada, are walking straight towards the Ka'aba. When they reach, you will witness that all are facing Ka'aba from different directions, hence they have formed a circle around it....

Thats why we go AROUND n AROUND for tawaf

'Allah ka ghar' doesnt mean that Allah lives in there. Allah has called it 'Baitullah' PROBABLY beacuse Ka'aba has pathar (stone) directly brought down from Junnat by Jibraeel (as). That stone has been there since Ibrahim (AS) and will remain there for eevr until Allah does something about it
