4th nuclear power plant becomes operational

Country's fourth nuclear power plant at Chashma Unit-3 (C-3) with 340 Megawatt (MW) power generation capacity, has been successfully connected to the national grid, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) revealed to APP on Sunday.

"Congratulation to the nation that Pakistan's 4th nuclear power plant Chashma unit-3(C-3) has been connected to the national grid," the PAEC sources said and added hence starting supply of electricity generate by this unit to the national grid on trial basis.

They said "After performing various safety and functional tests, the plant will attain full power in first fortnight of December 2016 and a formal inauguration ceremony of the full power grid connection will be held in December."

Chairman PAEC Muhammad Naeem, on achieving this milestone, has re-affirmed that the scientists, engineers and technicians of PAEC are working hard to contribute in achieving all the targets set to ensure energy security for the country.

He acknowledged the support of Special Plans Division and the government for help achieve these targets.

Pakistan's first nuclear power plant KANUPP at Karachi, is in operation for the last 44 years. The other two nuclear power plants C-1 and C-2 at Chashma are generating electricity with more than 90% capacity factor.

These are the best performing power units among all power generating units of the country from all sources. These nuclear plants are supplying around 600 MW to the grid.

Two larger capacity nuclear power plants K-2 and K-3 near Karachi are under construction and will be completed in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

جی ہاں ، لیکن پابندیوں کے باوجود یہ پاور پلانٹ لگا لینا بھی معجزے سے کم نہیں پھران کے لئے فیول امپورٹ نہیں کرنا پڑے گا پاکستان نیوکلیر فیول میں خود کفیل ہے ، کینپ ٣ اور چار جو کراچی میں لگ رہے ہیں وہ اس سے بھی سستے ہیں

Not really. The world is moving away from nuclear power, and Paksitan is going for more. Considering that Pakistan has abundance of flowing water and coal, its a shame that even now, more than half of our electricity is produced through furnace oil.
Nuclear power is difficult to sustain, has huge risks, and has a limited shelf life. I personally feel that China is imposing these power plants upon us in order to make a sale, considering no other country is willing to deal with Paksitan on the nuclear stage.

Almost $1 billion invested in Chashma3, and it will produce 375MW. Had this been in KPK, PMLN would have been counting the number of MW to come out of this huge investment

As of May 2016, 30 countries worldwide are operating 444 nuclear reactors for electricity generation and 63 new nuclear plants are under construction in 15 countries.

ہاہاہا !! آپکا منصوبہ بننے سے بہت پہلے مئی ٢٠٠٠ میں چشمہ ١ کی پیداوار شروع ہو گئی تھی ، چشمہ ٢ کا سنگ بنیاد یوسف گیلانی نے مئی ٢٠١١ میں رکھا تھا جو اب تیار ہوا ہے

کراچی والے دو پلانٹ چوالیس سال پہلے بنے تھے دو اب بن رہے ہیں جو ٢٠١٨ میں مکمل ہو جائیں گے، منصوبے تو اٹھتیس ہزار میگا واٹ کے پڑے ہوۓ ہیں حکومتوں نے فنڈز مہیا کرنے ہوتے ہیں اور کام کی رفتار دیکھنا ہوتی ہے کام تو انجنیروں نے کرنا ہوتا ہے مشرف تو سواہ مل کے بیٹھا رہا اور قاف لیگ کے علاوہ کچ بنایا ہو تو بتاؤ ،
