And the same critics used to spit poison against the motorways when they were being built, and this is purely lack of vision. Countries like New Zealand and Australia even lack a REAL motorway, the one like in Pakistan, though its no comparison to germans one but it IS and WAS a visionary step. Let the dogs bark, and let the caravans move on.

People who are commenting against this project either don't live in Lahore, they don't know how much it is needed for the area it is being built for, or they are just disagreeing for the sake of disagreement.
This is a flagship project; it would be introduced to other cities as well and if some one is asking why first in Lahore; they should know that: Lahore is the heart of Punjab; a true metropolitan city; people from not only all over Punjab, but from all over Pakistan have came and settled here and are living peacefully.
In Lahore there is a sense of acceptability and openness that no other city of Pakistan is currently offering, this sweet city deserves to be pampered.

First of all this project is for poor masses and very visionary act in order to improve and encourage public transport. Secondly, if we talk about the idea itself. It is the latest trend in public Transport. Like so many other countries,UK has also rolled out this project in the name of 'Guided Buses' in several cities like 'Cambridge' and others. All the feasibility reports prove It to be useful and cost-effective. If Pakistan has got any sophisticated transport system, we should encourage it rather than saying, this money should have been spent anywhere else and if there's no corruption proved in the project. We should abstain from blaming just due to political differences.

The issue is not so much the project itself..but the priority of the project and the opportunity cost of the project. Was the money spent to provide maximum relief to maximum number of people. Personally I would place healthcare and education above transport projects. According to Punjab govt stats number of primary schools are decreasing...perhaps the money should have been spent on that?

I dont necessarily agree with spending HUGE on education, for a bitter reality is, :" iss mulk ko jitna nuqsaan parhay likhay logon nay pohonchaaya hai itna kisi aik anparh nay naheen pohonchaya ":

But having said that, talking about Punjab education policy, as for my knowledge, it is going excellent keeping in mind what country we are living in and the ground realities, there is always room for improvement but on the ground Punjab is the best in comparison to all other provinces.

I see what you are trying to say in your first paragraph but you are mixing up education and morals. The best education doesn't teach you morals and ethics..look at tony Blair for example.

As for your second para...Punjab govt figures show decrease in number of schools. And it's not about doing better then other provinces but about providing a good standard of education.
