1. The mistreatment of Dalits is shameful and unpardonable. They have been mistreated for thousands of years and unfortunately this practice has not completely stopped yet... :oops:

2. The first step towards solving an issue is to acknowledge it, apologize for it, and to bring laws to rectify and prevent it.
I think it will take another 2-3 generations or maybe more for this discrimination to end...

My personal view on Dalits is following - it is easy to change something which is part of a culture through education and over time the society evolves out of it but it is rather impossible for something to change if it is part of a religion, so Contra's argument that this will change in the next 2-3 generations does not hold water....
