That's 2 Billion if you got lost counting all those zeroes :31:

That is Mukesh Ambani's mega-mansion that is being built in Mumbai.

Interestingly enough it's being built adjacent to a giant slum housing 1 million people.

The estimated value of that slum is approx one billion dollars.

So basically the home for one person is worth more than the collective homes of 1 million people living right next to him.

I wonder what Mukesh and family will think of that when they stare down at the surrounding slums.

Ambani spends 2 billion on a house.

Mittal splooges 100 million on his daughter's wedding.

Compare this to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who are basically donating their entire fortunes to help the poor of the world.

Do these super-wealthy Indians have some moral duty to help the hundreds of millions living in abject poverty in their nation ?

That is a very good Point bro..

I guess at the end of the day, it's his money. But sad to see people not having humility.

I mean how would a guy feel when he sees a house like this, and around him people are struggling to feed their own wives and children.

he has earned that money ... he can spend it any way he wants at the end of the day... Gates and Buffet are good men but we have no right to throw Ambani in the mud for not giving aid to the poor because unfortunately it's his right to not give. Also you guys are quick to jump on this guy but you seem to not notice that he has donated a ton to charities in India. i am not backing him up or anything but it's just there to see so you guys need to chill out search up the facts and then rip the guy apart lol. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet own humongous houses so why can't Ambani? Obviously he didn't choose the best location but that's his choice.

lol at the people slating the guy for not donating more to charity

Its not some sort of law that the man has to give charity, and like the others have mentioned he has donated to charity. So jeez, calm down there.

It's his money, these super wealthy types tend to donate more to charity (percentage wise)than the rest of us. Not everyone is a Bill Gates.

The only objection I have is that it's a bit vulgar spending so much on something that can be done for a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of what he's spending. Still being rich doesnt necessarily mean you have taste or class

Billy has given a lot of money away and has openly said he is dedicating his life to philanthropy but it's also no secret he is after a nobel peace prize. No-one does anything for free

We can sit here and argue all we want about whether the super-rich have a moral obligation to help the ultra-poor ..

But the fact on the ground is that in the West people generally believe in giving back to the rest of society, while in the Subcontinent it's just about how rich can I can get and how much can I show off.

Clearly one of those philosophies works better than the other for the overall society.

absolute BS, the house is ugly and the money spent could be used to help millions to get some decent shelter while these selfish indians are wasting money on such a ugly and stupid idea. what is the world coming to?

This show off culture is built into the psyche of Indian Subcontinent people.
Even Shahjahan built Taj Mahal to show off this love for Mumtaj.

Its his money. I think this is too much to spend on your private house. I hope he is equally big hearted to invest on the future of Indians and paying tax. I wish he'd spend 100 million $ on house and 900 million on hospitals and remaining 1 billion on schools/ education.

true ! this building seems more like a CD or Video tower/rack than a house or mansion.

Billion Dollar House – Ultimate Luxury or Living Hell?

The place will require 600 full time staff to keep it running on a day to day basis!

I know we’ve all seen Trump’s gold encrusted New York apartment, but this guy is in another league entirely. I would sure be interesting to see the public reaction in America if anyone was to build a house this opulent. But given the horrific poverty that is present in India, to build a structure like this as a personal residence does seem to be highly insensitive at best.

I’m as much of a capitalist as anyone and Mr. Ambani can certainly do as he pleases with all that dough, but I do think an awareness of the fate of those around him should play into his actions.

Really will having a house this spectacular give him a better life; or will the separation it creates from virtually everyone else around him make it a regretful nightmare?

we have general consensus in the family - wife and daughters - its an ugly building LOL

Wouldn't be funny after the building is complete and ready for move-in, he puts his first step IN and collapses and dies. Remember, Haman ( or was it Shaddad) built junnah on the earth with all the whistles and bells, took first step in his junnah and went to the eternal HELL LOL
