Aaj kal youthees pe generals ke accountability ka khabt sawar hai. However, in the good old days in the "Purana Pakistan", instead of bitching and moaning, the powerful generals were truly put in the accountability noose.
Soon after forming the government after the 2013 elections, then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, of the newly elected government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), told the lower house of Parliament that their government will file a case under Article 6 of the Constitution to try former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
In his speech on the parliament's floor, Sharif said that by abrogating the Constitution, the former president had committed treason and should be tried under the law.

The Federation of Pakistan v. General (R) Pervez Musharraf, informally known as the Musharraf high treason case.
General Pervez Musharraf, a four-star general and once-powerful military dictator, was charged under the High Treason Act (Article 6) for subverting and suspending the Constitution.
On November 2013, the Supreme Court, at the request of the government, set up a special court to try Pervez Musharraf under Section 2 of the High Treason (Punishment) Act, 1973.
Moving forward with the case, The special court reserved its decision in the high treason case for November 2019. On December 19, 2019, the special court announced that it would make a decision on the high treason case against Musharraf the same month.
On December 2019, a special court headed by Justice Waqar Seth in a landmark judgment convicted Pervez Musharraf of high treason and sentenced him to death under Article 6 of the Constitution.

Unfortunately for the country, the special court's ruling was rendered when Project Imran's hybrid regime was in power. The army chief was declared "Qoum ka baap" by PTI and youthees had their asses jammed by the generals.
The hybrid government of Project Imran made a lot of noise about the verdict, responded harshly and declared Justice Waqar Seth, who wrote it, to be mentally unfit. Imran-Bajwa's hybrid government asserted that it would appeal the ruling and file a reference against the judge. A three-judge panel of the Lahore High Court later overruled the special court's ruling. As a result, the door to military generals' accountability was irrevocably sealed.
