Saleem Safi is among a few sane voices in the media... Some interesting facts he has to say about those who are behind the so called Talibans...

As far as the Army Generals are concerned they were doing their job so what their sons do for a living is not for any body to question unless it falls outside the ambit of law.
Now as far as the religious leaders are concerned the way I think about it is like this.If they have an ambition of spreading the word of God and their family members do not follow them then what are the leaders supposed to do? Answer is a tough one to follow but then they chose to follow this path.
The leader should denounce his family member, or disown them or resign from the leadership. It is not morally correct for the leader to go on as usual with the business of Deen just like it is a business of the earthly matters. Deen is the sacred trust of the Allah and should be held close to heart and sacrifices will be asked for by God, those who choose to pay elevate themselves in the eys of the people and God and those who are in the business for the business will have to face the consequences, this is not my prediction but a fact that is known to all Muslims.
Quran is full of examples where the mesengers of Allah faced momentous tasks and gave sacrifices for the cause, not to imply that we are in any way capeable of acieving those pinnacles but then the examples are given to us for a reason and the reason is enlightenment and guidance ,for us to try.
Allah says in Quran (not the exact translation)'Why do you say things that you do not do'.
