Yalda Hakim's Biased Handling on Sky News – Why the Soft Glove for BJP Spokesman?
The timeline is as follows:
- Dr. Faisal joins at 00:10:23
- Jaiveer Shergill is brought in at 00:21:48
- Yalda returns to Dr. Faisal from 00:27:38 to 00:32:40

- Yalda’s tone with the Pakistani diplomat was visibly confrontational. She pushed aggressively on terrorism narratives, echoed India’s stance, and interrupted multiple times.
- In contrast, her interview with BJP’s Jaiveer Shergill was more of a soft launch. She clearly mentioned “this is not going to be a debate,” gave him full space to speak uninterrupted, and never challenged him on India's airstrikes, civilian casualties, or false flag accusations.
- When she returned to Dr. Faisal, she again brought up “terrorist camps in Pakistan” as a premise, without presenting any independent evidence, and referenced social media claims as if they were facts.
Summary of Differences
Aspect | Pakistani Diplomat | Indian BJP Spokesperson |
---|---|---|
Tone | Confrontational, probing | Respectful, passive |
Interruptions | Frequent | Rare or none |
Challenging Statements | Yes (esp. about terrorism, past failures) | No |
Framing | Implied responsibility | Victim narrative allowed |
Fact-checking / Pushback | Present | Absent |

This selective grilling and unequal treatment isn’t new, but coming from a journalist of Afghan heritage like Yalda Hakim (who many thought would be more neutral), it’s deeply disappointing, but somewhat expected.
