The reason why India has developed more in the past 20 years is our engagement in foreign wars. This gave time to them to focus and build their economy, while we were travelling in reverse gear since 2008.

See, now we've become a punching bag even for this bunya court of Hindustan.

Without getting into the real discussion I simply wish to register my disagreement that your conclusion is perhaps not right. Comparative data of India and pakistan might not support this at all. The war is not the reason that we are at this political, economic and legal pitfall and the current ruling/political classes are further pushing down with all its might. The political and institutional decline started in late eighties which is the basic cause of the current situation. It is the rooted in the malevolent and malicious political class (which included generals as protectors and a main benefactors as well) took power and maintained a hegemony over institutions. In any case, at social and family levels, the officers and the criminals have deep ties. The wars, whatever bad and immoral, brought in foreign exchange and sustained a fundamentally flawed and rent-seeking economic regime. the generals and the political criminals are lusting for the revival of the low-intensity wars. Unless a country is a battleground, the proxy wars generally result in rapid transformation and development, however in an occupied country like pakistan run by malevolent political class , it is for more opportunities for loot and exploitations.

Yes, these are semi-solid facts and hence can be debated, that whether is was the nationalization by Bhutto in 70's, the Afghan war in 80's or the WOT since 2000. Some will drag it back to 1947. But they all are perspectives. Nothing as 2+2 =4.

It can also be debated that each one of them contributed their own share in our downfall.

However, my facts are simple: Until 2000, India was not doing way too better than Pakistan. Therefore, the first and usual suspect was WOT since 2000.
