Why to Vote this time in General Elections 2013 Pakistan?
For last 66 years many elections have been conducted in Pakistan. Those elections always bring forward same people but just with different party tags. Majority of Pakistanis didnt want to vote in those elections as the election system was very flawed. But this time there are many new factors which can change the dynamics of traditional electioneering or voting in Pakistan.
Presence of NADRA
Millions of fake votes always distracted people from trusting the election system. This time NADARA has emerged as a trustworthy database to generate error free voter lists. Million of fake entries have been scraped from the Voter lists, generated by NADARA.
Strong presence of Electronic and Social media
Media in the history of Pakistan had never been so free and independent as compared to present time. Electronic and print media are even under the pressure of social media. It wont be possible for media to favor someone or hide someone's malpractice. Awareness among people is becoming high because of social media.
Judicial backing
In previous elections of Pakistan judiciary was always a backbencher. They didnt take front role to make the election process transparent. But this time things are different as judiciary is showing utmost concern for timely and free elections.
Noninterference of Establishment
Throughout the history of Pakistan, establishment has interfered in election by one way or other. This time things seem different, as establishment is busy in countering terrorism and they want civilian leadership to take charge. Chances of interference in elections by establishment are minimum.
Independent election commission
It is first time that chief commission is uncontroversial. Though some parties have objections on few members of the elections commission, but still any solid objection is not raised. Election commission is also trying to scrutinize candidates quite seriously as compared to previous election commissions.
Interim government
In previous elections the interim governments were just another extension of the government leaving the charge. This time there are many objections raised regarding interim government especially in Sindh. But as compared to previous interim governments things are much better now.
All the above positive occurrences are not enough to bring change, until people of Pakistan come forward and use the power of vote to bring forward clean leadership. Now its our duty to poll vote this time and do best effort to cleanse the system of Pakistan. Else we dont have any right to criticize leadership, system and society of Pakistan.
