What is the Relevance of Being a "Muhajir" Today - Debate

سب سے پہلے تو میں یہ بات واضح کر دوں کہ میرے دادا اور نانا دونوں نے پارٹیشن کے وقت ہجرت کی اس لحاظ سے ہماری فیملی مہاجر ہوئی۔ میرے دادا اور نانا تو مہاجر ہو سکتے ہیں لیکن میں تو صرف پاکستانی ہوں کیونکہ میں یہیں پیدا ہوا ہوں۔

دوسری بات یہ کہ وہ ایک دفعہ پاکستان آ گئے تو ان کی بھی پہچان صرف اور صرف پاکستان ہی ہے تو اب تک یہ مہاجر فینومنا کیوں ختم نہیں ہو سکا؟

جو لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں الگ مہاجر صوبہ چاہیے لیکن اس کی وجہ کیا ہے؟؟ اگر وسائل وجہ ہیں تو ہمارے اجداد اپنا سب کچھ چھوڑ کر پاکستان آئے تھے تو اس کی وجہ صرف پاکستان کا نام تھا نا کہ کوئی وسائل۔

جو لوگ کیتے ہیں کہ ہم مہاجر ہیں اور اردو بولنے والے ہیں تو کیا ان لوگوں کے لیے یہ خوشی کی بات نہیں ہونی چاہیے کہ اردو اس ملک کی قومی زبان ہے۔ کبھی پنجابیوں نے تو نہیں کہا کہ پنجابی بولنے والے زیادہ ہیں تو قومی زبان پنجابی ہونی چاہیے۔

مہاجر کیسے کوئی مستقل قومیت یا نظریہ ہو سکتا ہے؟ یہ تو ایک وقتی عمل تھا اور ایک دفعہ ہم پاکستان کے مختلف شہروں میں آ کر بس گئے تو اب ہماری پہچان وہی ہوئی۔

فرض کر لیں کہ کوئی اپنے آپ کو مہاجر کہلانا بھی چاہتا ہے تو وہ کیسے الطاف حسین جیسے قاتل اور گینگسٹر کو اپنا نمائندہ بنا کر پیش کر سکتا ہے۔؟؟

اگر کوئی یہ کہتا ہے کہ مہاجر لوگوں کے ساتھ زیادتی ہو رہی ہے تو اس بات کا جواب دیں کہ ایم کیو ایم بننے سے پہلے زیادہ مہاجر مرے ہیں یا ایم کیو ایم بننے کے بعد؟ ؟

برائے مہربانی اس بارے میں اپنی رائے دیں اور بد زبانی سے پر ہیز کریں۔۔ شکریہ

there is no such thing as muhajir today atleast i dont believe in any such term.... im a born and bred karacchite and i want the adminitration of karachi in the hand of the people.... lahore is rules by lahorites.. peshawar is adminitered by peshwarites... quetta we knw whats going on there and karachi we knw its in total chaos... give people the power and every thing will be fine..... make new provinces out of so called SINDH DHARTEE MAAAA ( MY FOOT).... or atlest do a proper local body election... even when jamatyaas rules karachi it was still peacefull as the people of karachi were administering it....

Two mohajir dictators gave life to MQM, one made it the other revived it when it was dying, although you may not believe it but the mohajir factor is highly politicized now, its not going to die any soon

A "Culture" needs a "Name"

Culture consists of things like "mother language", cooking of different dishes, the customs etc.

There are 5 major Cultures in Pakistan

1. Punjabi Culture (.... people who belong to this Culture, they are known as PUNJABIES)
2. Sindhi Culture
3. Pushtoon Culture
4. Baloochi Culture
5. Kashmiri Culture

Then there are sub-cultures like:

1. Saraiki culture
2. Barahwi culture
3. Hazara culture
4. Kafiristani culture etc.

All these "Cultures" have separate "Names" through which they are recognized.

The people, who migrated and came from India, they have also a specific Culture, which consists of language, Cooking style, customs etc.

The biggest mistake was to not to give a specific NAME to this separate Culture at time of creation of Pakistan, through which this Culture could have been recognized.

In 1951 Constituion, the name of these People was officially given as "Muhajirs". Since then this name carried on and still exist today.



Question: What name should have been given to People who migrated from India?

Name of Culture is give on Two bases basically:

1. Area (from where People came)

In case of people, who migrated from India, then name should have been "Hindustani" or "Hindustani Muslims". But this name of this culture was not accepted to us as we hate Hindu and India.

2. Language

This culture could have got the name of "URDUSTANI" on bases of their language being "Urdu".

But URDU became the "National" language of Pakistan (including Banglades). Therefore all of us became "Urdustani" too and thus this name could have also not been given to them.

Therefore, the name "Muhajirs" carried on for these People and their culture.



Difference between "Literal" meanings and "Terminology"

Therefore, now the word "Muhajir" has lost it's literal meaning and it has become a TERM which represents a set of people with specific language, Dishes, customs etc.



4th Generation of Pakistanies still known as "Pakistanies" in England

Although this 4th Generation is English, but due to their specific custom and language, they are still known as "Pakistanies". It is due to the Universal Human Nature that every Culture needs a Name to be recognized.


Please give an Alternative name to People who migrated from India

Till the time their culture exists, you have to give any name to them.

We have only following 2 Options:

1st: To give them an alternative Name which is acceptable to them and others too. Please think about it and suggest.

2nd: Or to start understanding that Muhajirs has lost it's literal meaning and it has been used now as "Terminology".


COCLUSION:

MQM should present a Bill in National Assembly that this word Mohajir should be officially recognized as Terminology for representing the culture of people who migrated from India.

Or MQM should ask the people from Pakistan to suggest such new name of this Culture, which is acceptable to all.

Till the time, the nation agrees upon this new name, word Mohajir should be officially recognized as Terminology to represent this community.

What if people call us Hindustani, Mukkar, Tilair, Ghus Bethiye, Panah Guzeen and lastly Muhajirs? What should we be called then? Is Muhajir not a better word among all these?

My Dada and Nana also came from India and in 1980's when we asked them are you Muhajirs or Pakistanis, they proudly said PAKISTANIS. Although they were real MUHAJIRS. But why their offspring (who born and brought up in Pakistan) identifying themselves as Muhajirs?

Don't say this is Altaf who invented this term, it was in place since 1964 if you know the very first riots took place in Karachi.

We don't need any SOOBA provided if we given equal chance to deal our matters. If not then go to any urdu speaking house in Karachi and feel the heat there.

Think wisely, MQM might be wrong, but not all of its millions of supporters. Why is that? Any idea?

You cannot blame and throw all the garbage on only on all of the Urdu speaking people, you have to see all around to find out the real cause. Wisdom is yours if you are wise enough to think out of the box....

Peoples migrated from india was dead long time ago,talk about peoples of present time.

very very nice post , I was gonna say the same thing but you got it .After 66 years , this AH the traitor and foreign agent is still call himself Muhajir even though he is born in pakistan .Many people in Punjab emigrated to pakistan but they never claim to be muhajir. This is the weakness of our govts who gave so much importance to this "Zalil Insan" AH otherwise our govt can complain to British govt to stop him or hand over to pakistan and he faces the murder charges in the country. Gen Zia made the mistake to bring him on the horizon to diminish the popularity of PPP otherwise AH who use to ride the bicyle and living the life of a lower middle class citizen ,now millionaire. why pakistan dont make a complaint to UK to stop this person's nonsense speech.Something have to be done about AH to shut his bloody mouth. First they kill and at the same time, start crying about killings. As long AH is alive , very hard to have peace in karachi, I bet ?

majority of people were from the two states I mentioned earlier......now Hyderabad is in Andhra Pradesh and also there was some migration from Madhya Pradesh....like lucknowi from Uttar Pradesh, there must be indori also there..........so you see Pradesh is the common factor here.....it basically means region, territory......Bihar is also a Pradesh.........so Pradeshi seems to be the right choice and sounds good too.......

Most of my family lives in Krc, I never felt any heat you just mentioned..

people of Pakistan generally are suffering from Inflation/terrosim but we try to find excuses that this is because we are urdu speaking etc..

This is a General Phenomina not a specific one as MQM people claims

you get asked a question in English, in response to a post you made in English and you reply in Urdu............

but everyone can see that you speak read and write English perfectly well. So what exactly are you avoiding..

accepting that if in the UK you are INDIAN then why do you have an issue with being INDIAN in Pakistan ?

I born/lived/studied in Fsd/Lahore... I would loved to be called a Faisalabadi or Lahori Instead a Muhajir
