Vehicle Import Business In Pakistan (Participation Required)

Hiya All.

I am looking to get Nissan Juke, and instead of buying it from within Pakistan, i am planning to import it from UK. I understand that it may be a hassle not worth taking as compared to buying the one already exist in Pakistan. However i want to use this experience in assessing feasibility for Car Import business from UK.

I am looking for below answers and would really appreciate if someone has had any experience to deal with any of my below questions:

1. Is there any source or website, i could use that simply explains:
   • "car import duty" rates based on CC
   • How old car may be
   • How to determine the age of car, i.e. is it based on "Shippment date" or "Landing date".
   • Any other potential cost
     • Other taxes ?
     • Average Shippment cost and whther someone know what is it normally between UK - Pakistan or Japan - Pakistan
     • Cost of Car registeration ?
     • *** I have checked few websites and they all tend to give different and confusing information, Wish goverment had made it easier for anyone trying to seek this informaiton
2. Has anyone actually gone through this experience and whether you experience any difficulty, e.g. at Karachi Port, other ?
3. I am currently based outside Pakistan, so would like to know What are most famous imported mid-ranged cars in Pakistan.. e.g. Honda Jazz, Toyota Prius, Nissan Juke etc.
4. Is there any such other forum where people discuss any such ideas ? Or can Siasat.pk admin create another section within this forum as opposed to a sticky post, where people can talk about any such ideas ?

I would kindly request my forum fellas to include your comments, only if they are very relavent, and answers to my above questions, as there may be other trying to seek these answers and it may help others as well...

You can not import more than three years old car.
Duty calculated on the year of manufactured. for example 660cc car model 2013, duty in pak rupee 440k and 1500cc 2013 model over 700k
You can get three cars (one large and two small cars) in one 20feet container....from japan each car's carriage and insurance would cost about 70k rupee.

• Clearing fee, + visa arrangement fee (import of car are only allowed for those who is residing outside and visiting pakistan after few years usually. Clearing agent will arrange the visa and other related documents)

To import a Juke is not a good idea... You have to pay more as its nota hybrid. But you can import a 2011 model as its a mini jeep. if you import a 2011 juke you have to pay about 1088405/-PKR as custom duties. 2012 will be 1339573/-PKR and 2013 will be about 1590742/-PKR. Moreover, you have to pay agent fee which will be about 12-15K. Purchasing a passport will be about 11-12K.
As a Japanese car exporter I would like to suggest you to import a Honda Vezzel 2015 or 2016 model.

Sorry a dumb question...if custom duty is so much how would it make a profitable business?

You can buy USED juke with no plate and Enjoy its Ride, but you will be fedup in month or two
than resale the JUNK without losing big money. Its the BEST advice you can GET.
Otherwise you will LOOSE big amount in case of IMPORTING JUNK sorry JUKE.;)

Brother, I didn't said like that. Juke is a mini jeep not a sedan or hatchback so he can import a 5 yrs old mini jeep, mini van or a jeep.
If some1 wants to import a sedan or hatchback than it shouldn't be more than 3 yrs.

No one will dare to import from Canada where most of the cars are well above 2000cc and a duty for the maximum CC which is 1800 is more than US $23000.

no one do "any business while mqm, ppp,plme " sitting in power , there are 58 steps to import any vehicle in to Pakistan ,even you full fil all these accounding to the LAW of import you have to pay extra with more then in 25 steps the price are not fixed it depends upen which parties you belong and who and how big fish you are .


Try cost money in this business. good luck with your connections.

Honest dealing car importers mostly earn 5-10% on total price of the vehicle and 10% is upper most limit , above that you have to change tires etc etc ...

I believe your comment regarding "CLearing Fee" & Visa requirements do not relate to a normal importing business ??
