US rejects Pak concerns over Indian 'threat'

The Obama Administration has rejected Pakistan's allegations that the developmental efforts by India in Afghanistan are a security threat to it, saying a stable and more prosperous Afghanistan will only contribute to regional stability.

"I don't see how helping Afghanistan develop its economy and its infrastructure could be seen as a security threat to any other country in the region," State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters on Monday.

"On the contrary, a stable and more prosperous Afghanistan is only going to contribute to regional stability," Kelly said when asked about Pakistan's allegation that the massive developmental efforts currently being undertaken by India poses a security threat to it.

India is one of the largest donors to Afghanistan post-Taliban. It is not only involved in some of the massive developmental projects currently being undertaken in Afghanistan, but also has contributed aides to the amount of more than USD 1.3 billion.

"I think, you know, the main thing is that we all conduct this in full transparency, that any side that is contributing towards the reconstruction of Afghanistan, that we do so in a cooperative way, we share as much information as possible," Kelly said.

1- US intelligence recently has been very poor and misleading - remember WMD in iraq?

2 - On top of poor intelligence, US does not understand the region or the related geo-politics. Otherwise Taliban would have not been ruling 80-90% of afghanistan right now in the presence of thousands of NATO soldiers (mostly US) who have been there since 2001.

3 - US has failed in Afghanistan and grossly miscalculated the afghan strategy. That is why it is not sending more troops to Afghanistan. The standard of the inteligence was so poor that US learned very late that Karzai's brother is the biggest drug lord in Afghanistan. If US intelligence can't figure out on time what Karzaies are doing in afghanistan then how do you expect them to know what RAW agents are doing there? The intelligence of US for last 15 years is of no match to their predecessors who brought the USSR down. The talent is just not there.

4 - Since India and US have signed strategic partnership agreement on weapons purchases and nuclear technology, it well never want to disappoint its customer. even if US gets the intelligence aganst india it well never publicly admit to it because this will prove that it is a strategic partner of country which aids terrorist activities in other countries.

Pakistanis are desperately trying tit for tat after Mumbai attacks blaming India for all terrorists attacks in that country. They have not yet gotten over the '71 humiliation even after almost 4 decades so how can we expect them to forget 26/11 which was less than a year ago.
But then nobody is beleiving their story, not US, not EU, not UNSC, not OIC, not even their all weather friend China. Just want to know one country or International forum subscribing to their figment of imagination.
