South Korea expresses interest in mega project of Pakistan Railways

ISLAMABAD – South Korea Ambassador to Pakistan Kwak Sung-Kyu called on Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday here.

During the meeting, Sheikh Rasheed has said that Pakistan Railways is open to all merit-based international investments.
The minister assured the ambassador Pakistan Railways is ready for mutual cooperation with South Korea. He said up-gradation of Main Line I, II and III is top priority.

The South Korea ambassador showed interest in up-gradation of ML II and III. He said that a high level South Korean delegation is coming to Pakistan on 3rd of next month and will visit different departments of Pakistan Railways .

I would go with South Korea and not with Chinese. We need transfer of technology from South Korea to build and repair the railway engines in Pakistan. South Korea also have a great shipbuilding industry that we can get help from.

Pakistan should learn self to upgrade the railway system, produce rail tracks in the steel mills and produce the signal system. Work with the Chines on ML1 project and the learn to do it yourself.

Good..Korea.. Japan... China are best effordble for Railway projects.. China will hold all CPEC related Railway tracks..from China to Gawadar...Europe and USA is too much expenses for Railway lines to engines...so no chance for them..But we should ask Korea..Japan.China to transfer technology along with projects..So that we can be indipendent in future to maintain Railway.

China is already heavy loaded investments and projects in CPEC..Korea is good choice..They are capable to reforms the local Railway.. Build..Run.. Transfer..along with technology projects are good for Pakistan.. The plus point is that now...no kick backs..no corruption..simple and straight forward projects...
