Sindh minister has weapons worth Rs10m

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Food Minister Mir Nadir Magsi appears to be the wealthiest member of the provincial assembly, owning net assets of Rs1.36 billion, including arms and ammunition worth Rs10 million.

According to statements of assets and liabilities submitted to the Election Commission, Mr Magsi inherited weapons worth Rs7.5 million and added ammunition of Rs2.5 million to his arsenal.

The value of his family property in Sindh and Balochistan is Rs1.17 billion. He owns a Rs10 million house in the United States.

He has cars and agricultural vehicles worth Rs153.5 million and Rs10.1 million in cash.The value of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shahs assets is Rs11.92 million. According to his declaration, the value of his bungalow in Karachis Defence Phase V is only Rs2.7 million.

He has a Prado vehicle of Rs3 million. He owns five other properties, including 65 acres of agricultural land in Khairpur whose value has been put at less than Rs1 million.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro owns a house and agricultural land in Larkana with a net value of Rs2.5 million. He has Rs1.6 million in cash but no car. His wife owns a Rs17.9 million house in DHA and has financial liabilities of Rs9.55 million.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Antiquities Makhdoom Jameeluzzaman, son of federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim, owns property worth Rs19.4 million and has Rs2.46 million in cash, but no car.

Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza, currently on long leave, has commercial, agricultural and residential property worth Rs4.52 million, guns worth Rs600,000 and Rs724,000 in cash.

Former chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim of PML-Q has property worth Rs51.3 million in Tharparkar and a Rs33.26 million house in Islamabad. He has 80 tolas of gold and 1kg of silver ornaments worth Rs1.5 million and 120 buffaloes and 130 goats worth Rs9.65 million. He has liabilities of Rs10 million.

Arif Mustafa Jatoi has a gifted house worth Rs18 million in Naushero Feroze and land worth Rs679,000. He has a business venture with total investment of Rs49,500. He has Rs2.5 million bank balance and owns no car.

His brother Masroor Ahmad owns 579 acres of land valued at Rs43.86 million and a house in F-10, Islamabad, worth Rs12 million. He has investment of Rs8.5 million in textile business and 18 bank accounts in Sindh with Rs24 million in cash, but has liabilities of Rs5.28 million.

Sindh Minister for Works and Services Manzoor Hussain Wassan has 16 properties in Sindh and Balochistan and Rs2.65 million in 13 bank accounts. He has 5,200 pounds in a bank account in the United Kingdom and $2,395 in a foreign currency account in Pakistan.

Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has assets worth Rs70.74 million and liabilities of Rs43.08 million. He owns no car.

Wildlife Minister Daya Ram has a Rs50.45 million business with his spouse and share in a 1,000 square yards plot in Islamabad worth Rs39.15 million. He has shown the value of a 500 yards house in DHA, Karachi, as Rs2.04 million.

Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq has commercial, residential and agricultural property in Karachi and Dadu worth of Rs2.21 million. He has 50 tolas of gold worth Rs1.75 million and Rs1.23 million in cash, but no car.

Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah has Rs104 million in assets and cash, a little less than his liabilities of Rs106.68 million. His assets include a house in DHA and 51 acres of agricultural land. He has Rs55 million in cash and in bank accounts.

Minister for Culture Sassui Palejo has 309 acres of agricultural land, four plots and one shop whose total value is Rs4.29 million. She has an apartment in London worth 150,000 pounds. It has been purchased on mortgage. She does not own a car.

Sports Minister Mohammad Ali Shah owns a house in Dubai worth Rs40 million. He and his spouse own five pieces of property in Karachi worth Rs48 million. They own 10 cars and a motorcycle worth Rs15.16 million.

Syed Shoaib Bukhari of MQM has Rs387,000 in his bank account. He has no asset in his name, but his wife owns three plots of 240 square yards each, valuing Rs1.4 million, and has investment of Rs1.3 million in National Savings schemes.

Sindh Minister for Electric Power Shazia Marri has Rs130,000 in her bank account and 10 tolas of gold ornaments. Similarly, Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto owns nothing except 47 tolas of gold worth Rs1.73 million.

I personally know a guy from interior sindh who is not even a minister but had an arsenel which was worth 15 million 7 years ago, he is crazy about weapons, must have crossed 20 million by now.
