Shameful performances in the Adelaide test. Who is responsible ?

An irrepressible David Warner smashed an unbeaten 335 on Saturday while Steve Smith became the fastest man to 7,000 Test runs as Australia put Pakistan to the sword before declaring on day two of the second Test in Adelaide.

Skipper Tim Paine waved his players back into the pavilion when they reached 589 for three ahead of the dinner break with Warner making the 10th highest score ever in Test cricket.

His knock was one more than former captain Mark Taylor's epic 334 against Pakistan in 1998 and the second best score by an Australian of all time after Matthew Hayden's 380 against Zimbabwe in 2003.

Matthew Wade also remained unbeaten on 38.

Pakistan did have some success. After removing Marnus Labuschagne for 162 in the opening session, they also bagged Smith, caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan off Shaheen Afridi for 36.

In making his runs, Smith — who had a rare failure in the first of the two-Test series at Brisbane — shattered a record that had stood since 1946.

He took a single off Muhammad Musa to reach 7,000 runs in his 126th innings, taking possession of a mark held for 73 years by English great Wally Hammond who reached the milestone in his 131st innings.

Smith also moved past legendary countryman Donald Bradman's 6,996 Test runs to become Australia's 11th highest scorer.

The home team resumed the day-night second Test at 302 for one with Warner on 166 and Labuschagne 126, with the pair putting on another 67 runs before Pakistan finally got a breakthrough.

Skipper Azhar Ali took the new ball and Afridi clean-bowled Labuschagne as he attempted a drive, just as he and Warner appeared set for another long day at the crease.

The 25-year-old, who has come of age during the series, trudged back to the pavilion to a standing ovation after a classy 162, his second century in a row.

Their marathon 361-run partnership was a record second-wicket stand for Australia against Pakistan and the highest ever in a pink-ball Test.

Just minutes later, the explosive Warner completed only the second Test double century of his career. Playing in his 81st Test, he reached 200 off 260 balls with a single from Afridi, having clattered 23 fours along the way.

Pakistan thought they finally had Warner out on 226 when he was caught in the gully off debutant Musa, only for their heads to drop when it was called a no-ball.

He made them pay, passing his previous highest Test score of 253, set in Perth in 2015, before reaching his 300 off 389 balls.

Smith, Australia's saviour during the recent Ashes series against England, where Warner struggled, built a solid 36 before catching a thin edge on a big swing, with Rizwan taking a catch behind the wicket.

Pakistan have lost 13 consecutive Tests in Australia.

Responsibility lies squarely on PCB who made one man in charge of everything. Misbah is Chief selector, head coach as well as batting coach. He himself played all ( at least the one in which he got success) his cricket in UAE. He did beat England , Sri Lanka, and Australia in UAE, but lost to Sri Lanka and leveled with South Africa and New Zealand in the same UAE. The only high time of his career was in 2016 when he leveled series in England. The guy is pioneer of defensive mindset in world cricket modern era ( post 2000 era). Since he is a Niazi from Mianwali , so will remain at the helm of affairs as long as IK is PM, and will ensure complete destruction of Pakistan Cricket.

Misbah.
He had negative mentality. With negative mentality you cannot survive in Australia, South Africa with their pitches.
Pakistani batsmen are to eager to hang their bats on anything outside the off stump, mostly aimless.
The cannot survive against Australian bowlers who would keep testing them with balls just offside the off stump, knowing sooner or later they would hang their bat and get a nick.

No amount of coaching would change that. Pakistanis lose their focus and techniques by playing with tapped balls. Pakistan should put a stop to it.
Because of the tape ball cricket, the players think they are hitting the ball out, with drawn in boundaries. In a real match that is a catch. Second with real balls, they get a nick due to the weight of the ball and swing it gets.

Last year I played a little in one park with Pakistanis boys, I think they were from Sarai Alamgir.
All of them were eager to hit the ball in the air and thinking themselves as Tarzan.

As a matter of fact, they were getting out with almost every shot. I on the other hand tried to play the ball with good cricketing shots. With taped ball the cover drives don't travel that far.
Pakistani too timid and they don't care. They are more interested in money and fame not national pride.

I laugh they way their captain Azhar comes out with "Choore Bazoo", he stretched his arms and puff out his chest like he is a superb warrior, while as a matter of fact he is just a fisher, who get caught on low scores time after time.

There should have been a batting coach and from the look of it or the ineffectiveness of bowlers Waqas Younus is not much of help

being defensive is not a bad thing
Pakistanis need to bat as long as they can
They are not batters like austrAlians and have serious flawless
