Just like the State Bank of Pakistan issued Rupee currency or the Fed issued Dollar bills or the US treasury issued Tbill bonds held by the State Bank of Pakistan deposited at the NYFed..

Yup.. exactly like that.. but issued by NO ONE

I was being sarcastic but I think you hooked on the bait...

Surely, you're not drawing a straight line between bitcoin and regular currency... right?

Let's not jump the wagon by that much.

Also, I like to know where to go and protest once my currency goes bust - in PKR's case the parliament and in GBP's case the Bank of England's building.

  • In Canada, Government has freezed the acounts. US is also taking their measures.
  • What about tax guys?

What's the point if Government confiscate your accounts?

Kabhi to likhne se pehle thora soch liya kero mere bhai.. I am sharing an article about BITCOIN, a decentralized currency. A Currency that threatens the entire existence of Banks. And you are saying I am out to start a new Bank?

Also, I am in need of no money. After a certain numbers of zeros after a digit in a bank, being rich or poor takes on a totally different meaning.

Bitcoin is decentralized. Its Money 2.0

If Bitcoin goes to zero, you go to the same place to complain where you'd go if your foreign currency account is frozen.

There's is no bailout for anyone that deals in Bitcoin. We are all adults here.

How do you suppose the govt will confiscate Bitcoin that have been transferred to a phone or a computer or even a paper printout (paper-wallet)?

It cant be done. They r gonna play the same tricks on Bitcoin what they have done with Gold and Silver. Interestingly, there isnt a derivatives market out there thru with they can effectively control Bitcoins.

There are tax implications if you move back and forth b/w $ and BTC.

Right, so I'm a corrupt executive in my govt., say Geithner. I'll know where to get my accounts unfrozen...

Bitcoins are as purposeful as suspended coffees (feels good to talk about but practically makes a fool out of one), but except for buying coke online, which was really hard before the days of bitcoin - you needed to know someone who knew someone who knew someone - you know.

I can understand your obsession with it. Recently since the bitcoin news has gone viral in 2013, so many of the 'we-are-the-99%-tree-hugger-lot' have not shut up about it. I wonder where were their 'bitcoin-boners' pre-2013?

And the answer to that, my friend will tell you that it is, like so many other things on the internet, a fad.

Dude, I really thought you weren't going to be pro-internet-money that much. I really did.

Honestly speaking, i got no freaking idea how does this BITCOIN thing works.
If people in general don't understand derivatives and all other tools, how do you expect people to understand BITCOIN myth?
I am talking about first world country. Even many financial advisors and bankers got no clue about BITCOIN myth.
Do you remember, last stock crash ?
That happened becuase of MBS and other derivatives known as TOXIC assets in the balance sheet of too big to fail banks.
Still, financial sector and people in general got no clue about the derivatives market and it's implications once they will go bust.......including myself .

If BITCOIN is not for masses then what's the point ?
I would appreciate if you could explain the down side of BITCOIN. Thanks

Bitcoin's downside is mass hysteria. That is it! There is no derivative market in Bitcoin. zilch. nada. I was actually interviewed on this very topic by LetstalkBitcoin group. Here's the interview (35:00 onward)

The derivatives issue has yet to be resolved. These derivatives were still sitting on the books of the primary dealers, especially JPM and HSBC. Did you watch the last speech by Bernanke? He constantly hinted about the "risk of a broker-dealer" going belly up. Everyone knows he's talkin about JPM. Funny thing is, JPM was one of the strongest banks even during the crises. It was due to its acquisition of Bear Sterns forced by the fed that's causing JPM to wobble. Funny thing is, when Fed arranged the post-rape marriage, it took on all Bear's liabilities minus 1 billion. Those liabilities are now starting to show cracks. It would be awkward for the fed to pour money in to JPM now due to bad publicity. But its going to show up on Fed's expanded balancesheet!

Pre-2013

How about pre-$5-a-pop BTC?

[h=1]Meet the world's first Bitcoin baby[/h]

[h=2]Dr. C. Terence Lee, a fertility specialist based in Brea, Calif., flashes a photo of a beaming infant across a projection screen and announces: "This baby was bought with bitcoins."[/h]No, this isn't a black-market deal brokered in the Internet's shadowy corners. The child was born thanks to a frozen embryo transfer cyclepaid for with bitcoins. Lee says it's the first time he's aware of that anyone has paid for fertility treatments that way.
