Salman Taseer calls on Altaf Hussain

LONDON: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer called on MQM chief Altaf Hussain in International Secretariat here in London on Tuesday.

Over all law and order situation of the country together with issues related to diminishing terrorism from country were among the leading issues discussed during the meeting.

Meeting lasted for three hours and both prominent figures spoke to media after the meeting concluded.

Altaf was of the view, political elements, belonging to Punjab, have been seen changing their attitudes towards making coalition with other provinces political parties, which he termed, A good and positive sign for the political future of the country.

He underscored, the terrorists and extremists elements have contributed a great deal in defaming Pakistan among the nations of the world by blitzing schools of girls in Swat besides threatening the parents against sending their female children to schools.

Governor apprised the role being played by MQM in national politics and termed MQMs policies pro-democratic and supportive to smooth running of current government.

Salman Taseer wished, Altaf could come to Pakistan soon and his plane lands in Lahore.

Altaf thanked his remarks terming them encouraging to the people of comparatively small and backward provinces as compared to Punjab.

He also denied commenting on the cases of Sharif Brothers adding the courts verdict would decide the result of cases and I would become able to comment then, he maintained.
