With fresh money in my pocket from Maryam Baji's lifafa, I decided to buy something to read. No, not for any conspiracy theory, but you know, just for reading enjoyment.
So, I picked up The City of Hope - The Faridabad Story and started reading it.
Right in the beginning (in fact page 2 and 3), the book quotes Wali Khan's book and Iskandar Mirza's autobiography on how Quaid-e-Azam asked Iskandar Mirza to work against Bacha Khan and Khudai Khitmagars so that their Muslim League can get a better advantage in NWFP.
(I understand that one can contest the truthfulness of Wali Khan's account, and I am not defending or discrediting this. My question at the end is about something else so keep reading...)
Then, we all know how in 1947 Iskandar Mirza was appointed as Pakistan's first Defence Secretary by the Governor General of the time, Quaid-e-Azam. Then we all know how Iskandar Mirza eventually became the last Governor General, then the first President of Pakistan.
And, then we all know (but somehow want to forget) that Iskandar Mirza was the grandson of Mir Jaffar - some one (who along with his family) were the foremost loyalists to the East India Company and British Interests.
So, my question is, why would Quaid-e-Azam give Mir Jafar's grandson such a high position? Was that on oversight? Was Quaid-e-Azam working for the British (Naouzubillah, naouzubillah)? Am I overthinking it or is it something that sticks out as abnormal to everyone?
