Qatar World Cup 'slaves' - Modern Slavery :(

I have lots of cousins and friends in the middle east and they are very satisfied there. Except that they don't have their travel documents with them, they are not that concerned. Re 'modern slavery', one can find lots of such examples in US as well where 'undocumented' immigrants are exploited pretty much along the same lines as they can't go to police. You see those kind of news every now and then.

While I am all about human rights and equality, please keep this fact in mind that no one was forced to go to any of these countries to work. It was their choice with all factors considered. Most of them, if not all, knew the working conditions they might see there along with travel restrictions. Not justifying any cruelty they are facing, I am just saying that this was part of the package they signed up for 'upfront'.

Moving out to a whole new country with nothing in common (not even religion sometimes) is a HUGE decision and should be a very calculated move. Despite all the stories we have all heard, it will still be very hard to find many people NOT interested in going over to middle east or anywhere else to find work.

God bless us all!

1st highlighted part: u r basically mixing the illegal immigrant with legal immigrants! in gulf all of them who work like slaves are legal immigrants!

2nd highlighted part: ghareebi insan sae kia kuch nahi kerwa leti! But kia hamara Islam yahi seekhata hae k majbooro ki majbori ka faeda uthao???

You are missing the points my friend.

First, the comparison was intentional to point out that the 'slavery' is not new and not unheard of - be it of legal and illegal immigrants. That's why the word 'undocumented' in quotes. Just FYI, the laws in (most of the) western world are very strict and such type of practices are totally unacceptable. It's just that the illegal immigrants don't have the courage to report such incidents.

Second, not sure what this has to do with Islam as these are individual acts of people. It is clear Islam did make any impact on them. I never said these acts are justified. My point was these are the potential risks people take knowingly when they get out to work in places like these.

God bless us all!
