Re: PTI will only do a token protest for a few hours on the road against drone strikes which is killing Tribal Pashtun children

Well, these so called leaders are half baked politicians and one universal quality of politicians is that sooner or later they put their foot in their mouth. Its not just a habit of Pakistani politicians.

Almost all parties leaders in Pakistan don't think before they speak.
Altaf Hussain, he said Pakistan was a blunder.
Nawaz Sharif and, Shahbaz Sharif said once in power they will shoot down drones and poorey mulk meiN doodh ki nehreiN baha deiN ge
Munawwar Hasan said Talibans are Shaheed and Pak army not.
Maulan FazalurRehman said ***** bhi shaheed ho sakta hai.
Imran Khan said Taliban should have permission to open offices in Pakistan and he will stop Nato supply.
Asif Zardari said Contracts and agreements are not like Quran and Hadees.
The list goes on and on...
...

What an unfortunate nation we are? Suffering from leadership crises since our existence.

PTI heading to a dead end over Nato supplies

PTI heading to a dead end over Nato supplies
Intikhab Amir

WILL Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf block supplies to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) forces after November 20? If it does so, what would be its fallout on overall politics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and political repercussions for the PTI?

These and some other burning questions are making rounds these days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwas political circles.

The joint opposition in the provincial assembly appears to be defensively offensive. Some charge PTI is playing crying foul to take political advantage and hide its provincial governments performance.

Some are appearing jittery.

He (PTI chief Imran Khan) is pursuing a road that culminates at the dead end: Governors rule in the province, opines Mufti Janan, a member of the provincial assembly belonging to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam -Fazl.

The provincial legislature, added the Mufti, had just entered into the sixth months of its existence and PTI had brought it to the crossroads where it could go packing. This is childish, said the JUI-F legislator.

Nighat Orakzai, a Pakistan Peoples Party member of the provincial assembly, thinks PTI is working on its exit strategy.

It (PTI) has realised that its government is failing to deliver, the stories of misdeeds and corruption of some of its ministers are even to the party chiefs knowledge, said Ms Orakzai, PTI wants to leave the government to protect whatever credibility it is left with after failing to fulfil its election promises.
However, that is not how PTI appears to be considering about the latest turns in its political posture. The party, with major stakes in the provincial coalition government, is on the front foot, making moves that have, apparently, put its politics at stake.

Its MPAs are sounding ready to compromise their government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in fulfilment of their party chiefs instructions to block Nato supplies as a protest against the Nov 1, last, US drone strikes that eliminated the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistans chief Hakeemullah Mehsud and his close associates.

The provincial health minister, Shaukat Yousufzai, a PTI leader, said on Nov 11, last, that PTI would not budge from its stand against Nato supplies no matter even if it had to lose the provincial government as a consequence.

Shah Farman, the provincial information minister, also came up with the same carelessness about the government while addressing a press conference at Peshawar. Lets shake hands as one never knows the next time we meet again we would be in the government or not, a journalist colleague quoted him as saying in a lighter vein.

As Khan Sahib (Imran Khan) is standing firm on his position taken against Nato supplies, I feel duty bound to fulfill his instructions if he asks to leave the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the middle aged Fazle Elahi, PTIs member of the provincial assembly from Peshawar.

However, no one appears to be sure whether PTI will really block the road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and stop trucks carrying Nato supplies to-or-from Afghanistan. Even Imran Khans party circles in Peshawar appear to be lurching in the dark.

The constitutional authority to block the supplies rests with the federal government, but if Khan Sahib wants us to block the road, we will oblige to comply with his instructions if he issues such an instruction, said Mr Elahi.

Political observers agree that if one goes by PTI chief Imran Khans tendency to take extreme position and stick to his position he is likely to disrupt Nato supplies practically.

At the same time, if one looks at PTIs recent politics of compromises, which it has been resorting to off late after coming into power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it might opt for something that does not compromise its political stance and its provincial government at the same time.
Mr Khan leading a caravan to Frontier Regions Jandola, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, in October 2012 in protest against US drone attacks serves as a reminder of PTIs politics of taking and sticking to its extreme positions come what may.On the other hand, its recent turnarounds to get passed a unanimous resolution from the provincial assembly against the Nato supplies is a reflection of flexibility it could exercise and compromise its stated extreme position.

After Hakeemullahs elimination that resulted into putting at a halt whatever progress was made to start negotiation between Islamabad and TTP, Mr Khan had announced to stop Nato supplies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at all costs, pass an unflinching and strong worded resolution from the provincial assembly that would have never adopted in the past, and that if in doing so PTI has to lose the provincial government it would not back out.
The resolution adopted by the provincial assembly on November 4, last, has shifted the responsibility to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif for evolving an actionable strategy against US drone strikes and allowing Nato to supply food and non-food items to its forces in Afghanistan by using land route in Pakistan.

PTI leadership, according to sources, was apprised by the advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that it was beyond the provincial governments constitutional authority to physically disrupt Nato supplies by issuing an executive order.

Political pragmatism made PTI to negotiate with the opposition in the provincial assembly, including Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, and others. They all agreed to resolution that fell far short of Imran Khans public pronouncements.

While the federal government has not yet made visible moves in response to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblys resolution, PTI leaders have started talking in tougher tone.PPPs Ms Orakzai believes PTIs posture could turn the situation really ugly, but not to the extent of rendering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to slip under Governors Rule.

There appears to be a change of heart and strategy at the PTIs end, said Ms Orakzai, as the provincial government would block the Nato supplies, rather PTI workers might resort to.

It seems to be a close possibility. Mr Farman, the provincial minister for information and a leader of PTI, visited Darul Aloom Haqqania, on Nov 11 and managed to get affirmative reply from Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami to support PTIs stand against Nato supplies.

Many believe the party has taken such an extreme position on the issue that it has closed all the doors leaving no room for return.

High court can not make this sort of decision. Have you ever seen anywhere in the world where courts are telling government how to run foreign policies. Also, Peshawar high court has nothing to do with waziristan area which is directly under central government or under TTP.

What government will do if tomorrow Sindh High Court order NS to attack TTP head qaurter in Wasiristan? Do you think PTI will support Sindh High Court decision? What if Punjab Government order NS to attack US forces in Afghanistan? Do you think NS is stupid enough to do that?

Courts should not involve in these matters becuase people will only laugh on such decision and nothing else. If judges can run the foreign policy then we dont need election and there is no need of PM and parliament. Let judges run the country who cant even run courts properly. You can buy a judge with small amount of money and get away with murder charges.

Firstly, High court judge is literate enough to know his limitations, and to know what orders he can issue, afterall he is judge of the court(who knows the law), and if he doesn't know the law then probably one can move a motion of ineligibility , or use of power improperly against him.

Secondly, Court issues orders using the constitution of Pakistan, It doesn't make strategies, like internal policies or external affairs, but keeps a check on the government where ever a government policy is against the constitution of Pakistan, and has the right to issue order to bind the government not to act against the constitution.

So end result: Government is responsible for making strategies and not courts, but courts can be reached if the government has a policy that is in direct contradiction of the constitution of Pakistan.

Dont you think this is all drama and this will have no effect on drone strikes? PTI is asking Samiullah group to come and help them in stopping NATO supply but who will send these extremist group back. Molana Sami is not a politicians but only a Mullah who produces many militants in past and has many Madrasa student to distrupt things.

I personally dont mind PTI protest but using Madrasa student for this cause is going to be a disaster. CIA used these students to fight Jihad against Russia and whole Pakistan is still paying the price. Also, why not KPK government start from refusing US aid money first and then take any action. US is giving aid to kpk government for a reason and kpk government is using that money like this is their own money.

My opinion is this decision is in the domain of federal gov.

KPK gov should not intervene bcos this is very dangerous for the unity of State if we set the wrong example.

I don't think Imran Khan can do that. I am going to taunt PTI just so that they realize that when you are in responsible position you cannot make statements with out thinking through the consequences.

Now the nation is at a point of do or die. If we will keep on following apologetic attitude then death by thousand cuts will be our destiny. If we take up some principle stand then we may survive or Atleast die with some honor. Go PTI for last ditch effort.
