PTCL is said to be blocking torrent trackers or throttling the torrent speeds in Pakistan for last 3 days, which has resulted into a blackout of torrent downloads/uploads in the country for customers who are using PTCL DSL and wireless broadband services.

According to several reports that ProPakistani received from readers, all users are unable to keep track of torrent files and hence downloading torrent isnt possible for them any further.PTCL has not announced anything officially on this.

For those who dont know, torrents are a way of exchanging files (of any type) between computers and devices using internet.Torrents are largely known for piracy violations as torrent users transfer and exchange copyrighted software/media/movies without paying anything.

It merits mentioning here that PTCL had recently blocked Skype out calls (skype to phone calls) without announcing anything. It appears that the telecom giant is on the spree of blocking all those things which were hurting its revenues. However, customers are likely to get furious with the decision and may change their service provider.

I called PTCL help line to put forward a complain against slow browsing and slow download speeds. They told me that the submarine optical cable is undergoing mantainence. Due to which clients are facing the problems. I think the torrents and skype problem is also due to these facts and every thing will be fine in couple of days.

Well i think that half of the people using internet use it solely for torrents. And if it happens permanently then new connections gaining speed will slow down significantly and many existing ones who doesn't care about browsing will also get rid of internet.

So in my view that really not the case. 2 days ago the internet browsing speed was slow. I think its an internal problems due to changes in the internal system of PTCL.

Use a VPN connection like Expressvpn. You will have to pay them $12 or something a month, but they provide high speed torrent traffic. Unfortunately all those people jumping up and down for Youtube Blockages have aided this predicament. Because of these people PTA has purchased all sorts of hardware/software to help filter out internet traffic. Had you all youtube banning people not give a damn, nothing would've happened. Now we all suffer for everything else as well. Congratulations.
