APP reported that Poland is interested in further expanding economic and trade relations with Pakistan in all fields including energy sector which would give a new boost to Pakistan and Poland bilateral relations.

Dr Andrzej Ananicz Ambassador of Poland in Pakistan said during a meeting with Mr Zafar Bakhtawari president ICCI that Pakistan and Poland need to work together in order to identify possible fields of cooperation and to provide proper information to business communities of both the sides.

Dr Andrzej said that Poland has well developed and diversified economy as its driving force is small and medium scale businesses, adding that Poland is currently one of the fastest growing country within the European Union.

He said that Poland has advantage of using coal as the primary raw material in production of their energy and three largest Polish coal mining firms extract around 100 million tonnes of coal annually. Therefore, Poland could provide assistance to Pakistan in power generation through coal of which the country has very huge reserves as Poland has great expertise in generating energy through coal.

[HI]Dr Andrzej said that a Polish oil & gas company exploited natural gas in District of Dadu in Sindh and gas production will be started in May 2013 which would help Pakistan to meet its energy needs.[/HI] The Polish Ambassador said that bilateral agreements and MoUs have become instruments of strengthening relations between the two nations and said that Polish Embassy in Pakistan would do its best to meet challenges and support any proposals and ideas, which would help achieve common goals.

Mr Zafar Bakhtawari said that deep friendly ties exist between Pakistan and Poland, however, these relations need to be changed into trade and economic cooperation. Pakistan always attaches great importance to its relations with Poland which is an important country in Europe and also the member of EU as Poland has supported Pakistan at GSP plus status and to create market access for Pakistani goods in European markets.

He is a good salesman, zero doubt. But he fails an 8th grade science test. I feel it is precisely because of NOT IGNORING folks like him, Pakistan doesnt remain capable of building a coal-powered plant. There is just way too much noise in Pakistani society, let alone the media. Too much noise kills the SIGNAL. Folks with real ideas (and there arent many of them) get drowned in junk ideas like Aga Waqar. Water kit was covered in MAINSTREAM media for many days. and was even followed up on with same junk points.

A nuclear armed nation needs help building a coal-powered power station?

I don't think one method of generating energy is always sufficient. Every country use different ways to generate energy. Nuclear powered plants cannot generate all the electicity that will be needed in future and also nuclear power plants cost more so until we have sufficient amount of money to put few nuclear power plants in place we will need cheaper energy from other sources.

I wasnt advocating Nuclear Power, which I know is insanely expensive). I was hinting this attitude of pouring money over a problem to get it resolved, like IMPORTING Coal-Powered Generator Plants. You see, when the 'State' deems necessary it can produce a Nuclear device. But when its people are suffered, it has to 'import' basic concepts from the foreigners.
