I do tend to agree to some extent with your comments regarding people blowing out of proportion but on the other hand fact are contrary to your point. Humanity has seen seen relative "peace" in last 75 years, probably that's where your optimisms stems from .

In last century merely in 35 years of span (1911-1945) humanity suffered with 2 horrific war catastrophies and both time the little events ignited to whole situation.

I think "relative peace" period seems outlived it's natural lifespan. If not this event there would be another similar event waiting to happen.

Some of Ur examples are completely irrelevant to the situation being discussed here. My comment doesn't mean that Army should run foreign policy nor it means that they have never made mistakes.

During the 50s & 60s alliance with US was the right thing to do. But Pakistan was no US lacky & did what it wanted to sometimes contrary to US desires, friendship with China being the prime example.

Gen Yahiya & 1971 example is totally irrelevant.

Afghan government has been anti-Pakistan from day one and communist government with soviet union was even more an issue therefore Pakistan went in alliance with US.

Gen Mush example is again irrelevant to the topic being discussed here.

Pakistan will do exactly as I stated incase of a conflict. No bases or support would be given to US.
