RAWALPINDI: The four Rawalpindi police personnel who raped a student earlier this month were given a clean chit by their victim before a local court on Tuesday.

According to the details, the 22-year-old student who was raped while she was out for sehri with her friend, retracted her statement against Muhammad Naseer, Rashid Minhas, Muhammad Azeem and Amir stating that her initial statement presented on May 24 should be considered null and void as she wants to record a new statement.

She said that the suspects nominated in the case were not involved in the crime and she didn’t know their names before the filing of FIR, further claiming to nominate the suspects on the provocation of NGOs and focal persons.

It is pertinent to mention here that the gang rape has been confirmed by a medical report whereas, earlier reports revealed that the families of the criminals had been threatening the victim’s parents to drop their allegations

Most probably she did this on legal advice of her lawyers.
She must had been unable to show how she knew the names of the attackers other than for hearsay.
Apparently, she had explicitly named the culprits on the instigation of some one who was not present at the scene of the crime. Her lawyers must had asked her to re-record her statement to save her case in the court.

Well there were clear reports that victim family is being threatened and there is dna report that can easily identify culprit and report also confirmed that she was raped.

I don't know the merits of the case to make a definite comment. In any case, the attackers will be sentenced after she identifies them by face or dna tests and other evidences/testimonies. Apparently knowing of all 4 'names' presented a flaw in her case that she is amending. It isn't to help the attackers I suppose.

But she also gave clean chit to the cops which could only be the result of pressure

There is also a plausible chance that she is telling the truth now and she had named them on the instigation of someone who was not present on the crime scene - an NGO or someone else whatever.
Knowing full names of all four attackers alters the nature of the crime which might had been used against her in the court - you may guess what story the defense will build out of it if even one of them was actually a stranger to her. In any case, the dna test will catch the culprits if police and investigation works well and that should be enough. Anyway, I don't know the merits of case other than these media reports and this comment is just a speculation.

It is highly unlikely that someone else has raped her and she named cops no one can dare to do that in punjab not even in parallel universe the second option that she was threatened is much more plausible

Perhaps I'm unable get the point across.
Yes there is equal or much more chance that she was threatened to delay the arrest of the attackers. I have zero trust on Punjab police anyway
But if she named four persons by name, that implies she knew all of them personally before the crime. -- that might not be the case and may had spoiled her case. Possibly that would have been used by the defense that she was in relationship with the attackers - that's quite a common defense.
However, if medico exam was held and dna evidence is available then they will be identified by it - and if there is no dna evidence then she doesn't have a case. You may speculate that Police will alter the dna report (and I have no trust on the police the same as you), however if the investigators are compromised then there is no chance . All I'm saying is that the case is in the hands of investigation team and her FIR has limited relevance but for her defense in the court -- which will be appealed twice in our court system.
