I am clueless about Horology having owned less then 5 till now, and only one being mechanical.

It boggles my mind as to why anyone would pay that kind of money for a watch. I myself don't wear a watch since I carry a cell phone.

All credit goes to the odd ppl who populate Reddit. I am astonished how he could identify it through such a poor quality picture.Their are literally millions of models, variations of mechanical watches.
Without knowing about movements case numbers, make, model impossible to identify.

When I put it on Reddit I thought it would be impossible for nayone to identify it. But 6 hr later some one did.
Its amaaaazing. This is the future , crowd sourcing , group think. Some one some where knows tha answer.

Well, they are passionate about what they like and in most cases its just their hobby. Unlike our so called professional journos who wouldn't want to get off their @$$es.

For Pakistan now we want everything to be extreme. 10 ppl die in a bomb blast its not news. make it a hundred now to elicit a reaction. We have become as the Pinkfloyd song goes comfortably numb.

$30,000 watch would be a big deal in any other country.
If you recall during Kargil crisis when Nawaz went to DC he bought a Philip Patekh watch rumored to be arounf $15,000 dollars. Papers made a huge deal out of it at the time.

I think now if you look at the 90's scandals most look trivial.

Whoever started this did a disservice by using the wrong information. I guess they were on the right track yet got carried away and instead of making a big story even with the $30,000 watch turned the story into a dud with inaccurate reporting :-)

I am sure for the common man on the streets of Lahore, Karachi, Quetta or Peshawar it doesn't matter whether its a $30,000 or a $1 million watch. You are right that there would have been an outrage in any other country.

I suspect Nawaz was secretly thrilled about the fact ppl thought he was wearing a 4.6 Million dollar watch.

Hence the complete silence from his end on this rather silly issue. Or the PMLN Cyber team cud have found out in a 10 min and clarified. When you are wealthy, wealth is tied to ego after all.

Thats what I was wondering too when I saw the pics and thought that the watch he had on looked a little different from the one he was purported to be wearing but didn't have the resources or the time to do any searching. I don't think I would have even come close to getting it identified. I guess I need to brush up my internet searching skills (including reddit :-). It would have been easy for PMLn camp to debunk the inaccuracies but they didn't expect that it would become an issue. They never thought that anyone would notice. NS has learned a lot from the Saudis (they love their expensive watches) go well with their simple attire :-)

They are just hacks. Making good money with all the BS that they are selling that they don't really see the need to do some real reporting. Their business model is pretty easy. Find a controversial subject - find some obnoxious people who don't like each other and who are responsible in the first place for creating the controversy and then facilitate a shouting match between them - a la Jerry Springer show. Who needs to do any real reporting and if get stumped use the internet to find your facts and make sure that they are not from authentic sources rather someone's facebook page :-)
