France has reportedly imposed a media blackout on its invasion of Mali amid a growing war that rages on in the West African nation.

On January 11, France launched the war under the pretext of halting the advance of fighters in Mali. However, as Paris has stepped up its ground offensive and aerial strikes in Mali few images of the conflict have come out of the African country.

French networks TF1 and France Televisions have also sent several teams to Bamako, but a media blackout on images of the clashes has confined all journalists to the city.
This comes as French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said the number of French troops on the ground in the West African country could top the initially-planned number of 2,500.

Two thousand five hundred is what was initially announced, maybe that will be exceeded," Le Drian said in a Saturday television interview.

Also on Sunday, Le Drian announced that Paris goal in the African country is the total reconquest of Mali, adding, We will not leave any pockets of resistance.

Meanwhile, the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, said it was preparing for around 700,000 people to flee the violence in Mali.

The United States, Canada, Britain, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark have already said they would support the French war against Mali.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has also pledged to support the French war by sending 5,800 soldiers to Mali.

Some analysts believe that Malian abandoned natural resources, including gold and uranium reserves, could be one of the reasons behind French war on the country.

It is true that Islamic fundamentalists have ruled northern Mali with an iron hand since taking over in 2012. But the reasons for this latest intervention lie in the determination of the world’s imperial powers to keep the human and natural resources of poor regions of the world as preserves for capitalist profits. West Africa is a region of great resource wealth, including gold, oil and uranium. The uranium mines in neighboring Niger and the uranium deposits in Mali are of particular interest to France, which generates 78 per cent of its electricity from nuclear energy.

Read the human rights report on Mali, where they butchered so many Muslims in the last few years.

Good thread.

I have been following this development and the previous 'arab revolution' very carefully.

What is the pretext of attacking a sovereign country, in the age of age of diplomacy and 'united nations'?
What is the pretext of attacking a country without any clear UN security council revolution, the brain child of the modern west.
Alqaeeda as predicted has become a PASSPORT FOR ENTRY into any country, whether it is libya, somalia, syria etc, etc.

Where are the values of the modern west when it comes to diplomacy? && where are the modern secular muslims paid servants and prostitutes of the modern west.

Re: After defeated and withdrawal from Afghanistan, again 2500 French Troops entered into Mali to the Muslims

This is an important development in the region after the so-called 'arab revolution'.
I fail to understand why pakistani media is OBSESSED WITH TAHIR PADRI.
They should recognize the importance of this change in the region.

The Western colonial powers ruled the world through direct invasions or indirect ways such as supporting and reinstating puppet regimes in Asian and African continents. After reaching a state of 'saturation' unable to exploit further such regimes, they planned to replace the dictators by spporting, financing, trainig and arming their opposnents. However because of globalisation, public awareness, and nationalism the intended revolts could not achieve intended objectives. The revolutionry regimes while confronting with their already weankened states' authority also challenged the Western invasions. Therefore in some states such as Iraq, Lybia, and Tunisia the foreign sopncerod 'rebels' successfully toppled the ruling elites but in others like Syria, and UAE states unleashed a kind of civil war, creating political uncertainity, instability and chaos, however helped strengthening the so-called strategic concept of 'war on terrorism'. During this process diverse ideological groups were united, trained and armed. However once achieved sense of authority it was beyound the western powers to keep all groups focused and united with 'objectivity' and themselves became the target of these groups as invading their states. Some of these dispersed and less-organised autonomous groups joined to fight against the Western interests as well. The invading Iraq aparently to eradicate the hypotheitical stocks of WMDs (Weapons of mass destruction), and subsequently attack on Afghanistan namely as 'war against terrorism' were perceived as Western occupation of sovereign states. Therefore after a decade long stay in Afghanistan without gaining objectives the West needed an honourable exit. The UBL killing was declared as their victory landmark to exit Afghanistan. The UBL phenomenon however strengthened the resistence movements against the western interests all around. The Westen armies are not engaged in a declared war against some national force but a kind of 'hit and run' type attack against the armies whose military doctrine is based on 'zero-causality' emphasis. The western concepts of 'War on Terrorism' and 'Clash of Civilisations' have lost their ideological and strategic significance and now the western staregy 'required' an actual demonstration of attack on their interests to justify their military use and invasion, such as in Mali. Their real struggle is to occupy resources. Capitalism is leading their objective and hence crises all over again. ... For Karl Marks: The Heighest stage of Capitalism is Imperialism.
