KARACHI: Naeem ul Haque, Economic Policy Spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek- e- Insaf has criticized the governments handling of the resignation of Shahid Kardar, Governor State Bank of Pakistan. He said in a statement that by pressurizing SBP to print more money to fund the massively misused Benazir Income Support Program, the government has once again exposed its lack of transparency and disregard of financial discipline. It is this disregard which has led to the extremely poor state of the economy.
As the corruption in government continues to grow unabated, the business and economic environment has deteriorated to an alarming extent, he said. Lack of economic and financial planning and a virtual standstill of industrial growth have destroyed the economic potential of the country. Coupled with exorbitant interest rates and the unending gas and electricity crisis the government stands guilty of sheer neglect and incompetence.
Naeem ul Haque demanded the cancellation of the IMF agreement, which, he said has stifled economic growth of the country and preparation of a new Economic Stimulus package for reviving the economy.
